Anyone close to Birmingham there is a cracking version of Blue/Orange playing at the Birmingham Rep (first visit), lot better than the Young Vic production, 3 great performances also.

I saw this last night! Free ‘onstage seating’ offer for preview club members although the seating was just really close rather than onstage. I loved it. All three performances were stellar but Ivan Oyik in particular really amazed me, to still be training at drama school and already be performing professionally is something worth praising.

I live near Brum and work in the city but i hardly ever go to the Rep. The programming is just so uninteresting. The French play about Cyrano next month has a good looking cast.

I agree about the REP programming, I am an ardent theatre fan and doesn’t take me much to see something and will even travel, however there artistic programming is generally unappealing for me, it is not like the Theatre Royal, Bath or Royal Exchange, Manchester. Nothing else programmed really interests me.
However Blue/Orange is the exception and is indeed exceptional. Sad it has no life after Birmingham though and would have thought this could play cities with the very small playhouses.
