Looks like another company is jumping on the gender swapping bandwaggon I'm guessing the Guildford Shakespeare Company looked at the Donmar production and said "Nah, we can do better than that" and will swap 6 characters' genders in the second act. The characters will be Angelo, Isabella, Duke, Mariana, Escalus and Mistress Overdone.

That said, & as someone who only sees any production of a Shakespeare play if it's non-traditional (eg the recent version of JC at the Bridge), Guildford Shakespeare company's work always receives excellent reviews, so I wouldn't be deterred by the gender-switching aspect. Plus they might have been planning this for ages.

O plu ese. Bad luck if they have been plotting for a while. But why don’t they go for a straight up but brilliantly observed production?

Our version of Measure for Measure had been in the works for quite a while, before we then found out that the Donmar was doing something similar. It's perhaps not surprising given what is going on in the world at the moment, especially as the play really does lend itself to it.
I would really urge you to come and see the production. It's amazingly done! (I can be bias as I am not involved in the creative process!) You might be surprised.
