'Winner of the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Martyna Majok’s Cost of Living receives its highly anticipated UK Premiere at Hampstead Theatre.
John, a wealthy, brilliant, and successful PhD student with cerebral palsy, hires Jess, a recent graduate who has fallen on hard times, as his new carer. Across town, truck driver Eddie attempts to support and re-engage with his estranged wife, Ani, following a terrible accident that has left her quadriplegic. As four very different lives collide and entwine, roles are unapologetically flipped, reversed and exposed - who is actually caring for whom?
Martyna Majok’s exquisitely original, honest and deftly funny new play explores our need to connect and be loved regardless of the gulfs that disability, race, class, and wealth place between us.
Hampstead Theatre's Artistic Director, Edward Hall, has directed many of Hampstead's greatest successes including the Olivier Award winning Sunny Afternoon, Chariots of Fire, Filthy Business and I and You.'

Review of the US production here - www.nytimes.com/2017/06/07/theater/cost-of-living-review.htmlSounds quite interesting. Hopefully they will use the same approach to casting as the US production. Also announced today: As is customary at Hampstead they have put the plays by British women writers in the tiny downstairs theater, in order to give American women and all men a chance upstairs. Eden by Hannah Patterson runs from 7 Feb - 19th March Wilderness by Kellie Smith runs from 21st March - 27th April.

If I put a post on here suggesting that in order to redress the balance we should put plays by men and Americans downstairs and have the women upstairs for a couple of seasons there would be hell to pay.

With respect, there is a world of difference between suggesting what plays where in a north London theatre, and wanting to incarcerate half the population.

And I am hardly Theresa May so it’s not likely to happen, is it? To be fair to TallPaul, most of us don't know who anyone is here. After all, you could be our new Brexit Secretary.

I've been out of the loop today, do we even have a new Brexit secretary?

Yes. Stephen Barclay. Don't worry, no-one else has heard of him.
