OK, hear me out, I know it's not happening this year, but wouldn't Nathania Ong make the BEST Elphaba? Ooh, good shout. I adored her Eponine.

Any idea if this show has had a booking boost from the movie? I have a friend who has decided they’d like to see it and I have convinced them that it’s better to see the stage version before the movie (mostly because I suspect they are not going to be able to wait to know what happens, they aren’t going to wait a year and they deserve more than reading the plot on Wikipedia) but I am wondering if the Daily Dozen is now going to be harder.
The seat plans seem to have pretty good availability but I’m not sure what they were like a few weeks ago…

The fact we still haven't had an official announcement on new cast yet?

It may be they're waiting for the new year (or just a bit later than we all expected).
I suspect they're hoping to get some increased interest with the movie released, but... it wouldn't be the worst thing if the production in its current state closed

When is cast change anyway ?
Everyone knows who the new witches are anyway - so what’s the point in delaying the announcement

EK is an insane talent, no doubt she’ll bring the role and the show back to life. But I fear her casting will bring some controversy.

I think the film has shown just how important the acting side of the role is. Curious if anyone has seen EK in a play rather than a musical to get an idea of what to expect?

Casey's clearly not joining from the tour to be Elphaba standby as she's back on the road with Hamilton.

And that is her business and nothing to do with us or the show. So let’s leave it at that please.

Are we getting a new Standby. I thought it was likely that Laura Harrison would probably do another contract.

I wonder if the movie will help with ticket sales - people desperate to find out what happens in the second act?

I know a lot has been spoken about the 2 witches and Fiyero but is there any casting rumours for the other principals (Nessa, boq, dillamond, morrible and wizard)? I know the Dillamond and wizard only joined this year but for the others this is their 2nd/3rd years as principals. Curious to see whether anyone’s heard anything about these?

All the rumors (and catty comments about casting, especially the thing about cast showing up whenever there's a telly lol) made me want to chime in. After not seeing the show in any capacity since 2018, I went a little overboard this year and last, and saw the show a grand total of four times on the West End and twice when the 2nd National Tour was playing Seattle last month. A major draw of the West End production (for me) was the opportunity to see Alexia and Lucy perform together and see a full scale "sit down" production, which I hadn't seen since 2009.
In terms of London's cast outside of Elphaba/Glinda/Fiyero, I think that they are solid, but nothing to write home about. I don't remember anything in particular about Caitlin Anderson's Nesssa, Sophie Louise-Dann's Morrible, etc, but that isn't too say they aren't massively talented. They just didn't bring anything to the role I hadn't seen before? I feel mean saying that. I did catch Natalie Spriggs as Morrible my last time seeing the show, and she just seemed to have way more fun in the role and didn't play it in the same register as Sophie.
While I never got to see Alexia in the role, I did catch Kate Leiper and Amy Webb in 2023, and Laura Harrison in 2024. I absolutely loved Kate's take and found her to be refreshing from the actress I'd last seen 5 years prior. I was surprised she wasn't the standby because she had a much more rounded performance than Amy. Laura was the best package; a bit more nuance to the acting, good mix of singing the score as written with a few fun options/riffs. Very pleasing. When I knew it was my last opportunity to see Alexia, I didn't care one bit once I saw the cast board. I knew I was in for a great show.
I saw Lisa Anne-Wood twice in 2023 and Lucy St. Louis twice in 2024. I really loved both, and will never forget first seeing Lisa in the bubble at one of my first ever west end show but I think Lucy St. Louis is legendary. I think she is maybe the best Glinda I've heard vocally, and her acting is top tier. I think she deserves to have made history in Phantom and Wicked, and I will try to follow her career.

Grabbed a "wicked Wednesday" front row seat for tonight's show. Some thoughts that stuck: Try and avoid stage left front row seats as there is a constant gross smell of pee from the toilets . ATG need to get a grip on this as it's pure unhygienic and gross . The set feels dated and needs a good tune up. it just feels old and battered and unloved especially from up close in the stalls seats! Dr Dillamund really phones it in. The costume is really dire, and the actor was just baaa-aad (sorry ). What is with the monkey costumes - particularly the weird hair but also the wings which are really naff and look so flimsy !! The actor playing Fiero was dripping with sweat from the beginning but the other actors weren't which was quite distracting. He did a good performance despite it. Apart from that it really is a very entertaining show. All of the Glinda, Wizard of Oz, and Elphaba solos were so masterfully performed making the negatives almost pale into insignificance .
