Well. It could be the Shiraz (remind me to tell you about the time I went out with someone called Shiraz, true story) or it could have been the play but I have to have a vino to recover. Oh my glass eye was leaking. I thought it was tremendous, I went in expecting a comedy and got something else. A few tears and, in the words of Air Steward favourite Cilla Black, a lorra lorra laughs. Plus a flash of nudity which always goes down well on a Saturday afternoon.
Roly Botham, Stephen Connery-Brown and Dan Hunter (doing double character duty) are the cast and they are smashing. Stephen Connery-Brown in particular steals it as the old gayer who takes young Shane under his wing. Roly Botha is so sweet, my heart broke. Dan Hunter good too, and he has a delightful chest I wouldn't mind plundering.
Nice to see that baggy jeans are still a thing in Australia too. God bless 'em. Still, they gave us Kylie and The Thorn Birds so I'll make an allowance.

I'm very tempted to see this but find I have left it too late to get a £10 GILT seat (there are some left for a single performance in February but the See Tickets system insists I buy two or none, which is unfair and discriminatory, as ATG used to be; bad for business, too), so am wondering whether to splash out £20 instead.
@ryan's review is very persuasive and I saw others online from earlier runs/venues, but has anyone else here seen this, please?

I saw it at the Kings Head 18 months ago, so a warning first that the play may have evolved and changed since I saw it, although the same three actors are involved as when I saw it.
I really enjoyed it - it's not your conventional "gay play", touching on issues of coming out, ageing and community, but in a rather more sophisticated way than usual. It's a little rose-tinted, but not too much and definitely asks some interesting questions about LGBT community.
So I'd recommend it, with the caveat that it may have changed completely since I saw it (and my two-year old memory might have warped a bit). Incidentally, my confirmation email says that I paid £25 to see it at the Kings Head, so £20 sounds like a bargain to me...

I saw this on Thursday afternoon. I thought it was brilliant, really enjoyed it. Like Ryan found it funny and definitely shed a tear, would recommend.

Thank you both for the recommendations, n1david and jasmineneroli; think I'd better take the plunge before all the £20 tix go, too! I've read that the production is tighter now (slightly shorter, for instance), but it's reassuring to know that the cast remains unchanged and as this is its 3rd visit to a London venue in 3 years, that should be another endorsement. I was just hesitating over the price as though £20 might not seem much to some, it's above my average spend and even that crept up so much last year that I resolved to cut back.

I saw it with the £10 GILT offer and enjoyed it very much. Very moving coming of age play with a strong cast. The only let down is the terrible set, but it's still a very enjoyable play and I'm very glad it's having a West End run.

I'm really excited to see the show this Wednesday. It's been on my radar the past few weeks as one to see, and with @ryan's review I made sure I booked it!

Really enjoyed this tonight. I had jonidea about it until I found Roly (the leads) YouTube channel and watched his vlogs about it, so I went primarily for him. But a great night, terrific performances from all three actors. I hope we see it again in the not too distant! Will probably write further thoughts later.

Enjoyed this tonight. I thought that it was a nice play on the shorter side with good performances. At times touching and poignant ending. Is the dramatic music really necessary? I think it made things seem a little amateur in this production.
The audience was swimming with lovely men (and 5 ladies!) although the only wet one in the end was the lovely Roly Botha.
A solid 3* from me.
