I was just wondering if anyone had heard of these penciling in at venues across the UK? I Assume the king and I will after it's London run, like South Pacific. And 42nd Street strikes me as something that would tour after london

I wouldn't assume anything about The King & I unless it's recast, as I can't imagine Kellie O'Hara wanting to do a UK tour.
As for 42nd Street, we all know it'll eventually be kicked out of Drury Lane for the refurb, but surely a show with sets that big would need to be able to play a couple of weeks at each venue at least to make it worth touring?

The last that I heard, The King & I had venues pencilled for a potential tour. These things can change so fast though so I wouldn't take that as gospel.
Haven't heard of any plans for 42nd Street. I think it would be a challenge (though not impossible) to tour this scale of production. I think they'd need some serious star casting to generate the ticket sales to justify the length of run in venues that this would need to sustain to make it a worthwhile exercise.

All the usual big number 1 venues should be able to take 42nd street.
Yeah I don't expect kelly and ken to tour, but neither did the American lead with South Pacific. Just seems like a lot of investment for a short London run, a tour would help make money. Glad it's at least a possibility

42nd Street in it's current form would probably fit:
Birmingham Hippodrome Bristol Hippodrome Dublin Bord Gais Edinburgh Playhouse/Festival Theatre Liverpool Empire Manchester Palace Salford Lowry Southampton Mayflower Sunderland Empire
I feel like there's a nice little tour in there somewhere!

The current production of 42nd Street in Drury Lane is a transfer of the 2001 Broadway Production, with the same direction, choreography, sets and costumes. The UK Productions tours of 2007 and 2012 used the US tour set and costumes from this Broadway production with the same direction and the majority of the same choreography (they didn’t have the rights to choreography for a couple of the numbers), however Graeme Henderson (who currently plays Andy Lee at Drury Lane and was in the original UK production) choreographed the missing sequences in a similar style to the 2001 production. So in effect the current production has already toured before it opened in Drury Lane.
As for the King and I, a rumour I have heard is that the run at the London Palladium is part of an international tour and stops in Tokyo amongst other countries are plannned after the London Palladium run is completed, this rumour is backed up by looking at the producers of the Palladium production which includes a theatre in Tokyo among other producers who present shows in Autstralia. This doesn’t necessarily mean that a future UK tour might not happen, it just implies that this set is destined to go elsewhere and therefore an immediate tour is less likely.
