PURPLE RAIN could have great emotional heft as a musical. The characterisation in the film is surprisingly strong.

Judging by what was said in that BBC article Prince's lawyers have probably kiboshed it.

It's been removed from Theatre Royal Plymouth website. It's in the new book that arrived last week so I'm guessing it's recently been pulled.
