Expect I wasn't the only one at the Other Palace Theatre today to see a concert performance of The Wicker Husband by Darren Clark and Rhys Jennings.
Really enjoyable. In its own way storyline reminded me of the Clockmaker's Daughter.
Pretty amazing cast pulled together for this one off performance with Tyrone Huntley, Rebecca Trehearn and Clive Rowe all having major roles. Star was Anne-Marie Piazza as "Ugly Girl" who does some amazing work in fringe theatre and has been in previous Darren Clark works.
I hope it gets to see an Off West End run as it clearly has potential and just needs some tightening up on some of the script.

It is indeed a nightmare journey by public transport. The nearest bus stop is about a mile away and the only suitable bus from Newbury (for a matinee) arrives there at 13.15. The return bus leaves after 19.00. I don't do taxis but I reckon £12- £15 each way. It's a lovely setting to while away an hour or two though ! |

It's an hours walk from the station. I know everyone cant do this but for many it's doable

I know everyone can do this but for many it's doable i think I'll bite the proverbial bullet and book, there's a single front row seat for a matinee on a convenient date. Bus there and probably walk back if I can't get a lift. I went to an amateur show near Cardiff last year that started late on opening nigh and I was faced with leaving before the end to catch the last public transport. At the interval I asked in the bar area if anyone could offer a lift to the station and three people kindly offered. Similar would possibly work at Watermill. |

We were there on Saturday for the matinee, could have offered you a lift back to the station had I known.
We both absolutely LOVED this show and so hope it follows Amelie into the West End. The puppetry, the score, the cast, the band, performances and even the storyline were fabulous and such a beautiful venue. We were dead centre front row and the closeness of the cast added to the magic. Perfect audience behaviour too.
Well worth the 200 mile round trip from Kent, even with an hour stuck on the M25 behind an accident coming home.
