Has anyone else seen this? I saw it on Wednesday. I really liked the simplicity of the setting and the costumes (great use of the colours) so typical of Peter Brook's productions. The story is not immediately accessible as it is a fragment of the Mahābhārata (towards the end) but the actors manage to make every word resonate with truth. It is not a play for people who want to be entertained by a clear and engaging plot but I found it fascinating.

This was a massive pile of sh*t
Its nowhere near worthy of a paid audience
Terrible acting
Peter Brook needs to retire or die ASAP
This is as irrelevant as theatre gets
Pretentious and stuck up its own arse yet masquerading as a simplistic little parable to try and trick people
The diction of the actors is just shocking
And a story based on Mahabbarata with not one brown face in it ?
Yes
Excellent

Not sure what you do for a living but maybe you should think about playing darts or golf for your out of hours entertainment. You are not getting much from theatre right now.

The Empty Space: "The critic who no longer enjoys the theatre is obviously a deadly critic." [Peter Brook, 1968]
The Master Builder: "Left at the first interval. What a pile of sh*t" Nell Gwynn: "Left at the interval last night" Mrs Henderson Presents: "Left this at the interval. Makes it a runaway hat trick after Nell Gwynne and Pina Bausch this week" Uncle Vanya: "4 in one week. What a load of sh*te this is. If anyone thinks that the piles of sh*t offered at this venue are a true Uncle Vanya or Oresteia. Shame on you all. Such a shame the way theatre is being polluted and diluted and totally shafted in the arse by a new generation of useless idiots tampering with classic plays. Anyone can take a Chanel dress and sh*t on it. It's easy." Battlefield: "This was a massive pile of sh*t" [Parsley, 2016]

Frankly I don't believe anyone who professes to dislike so much, it's such an extreme reaction that I presume (and there are others) that it is only to get noticed and anything they say isn't a true reflection of their views.

Please be QUITE assured My opinions are reflective of what I actually think Hence leaving at the interval Unfortunately this pathetic excuse of a play had no interval Fortunately I had a copy of Stylist and read this for most of the show What is worst are people who pretend to like shows because they think it is the thing to do when actually there was no artistic merit at all in the thing As we have established over the years I am not easily pleased

I think there's quite an important difference in saying "this thing is terrible - worst show ever" (and by implication, or even explicitly, stating "anyone who enjoys this is a fool") or taking the approach of "I really didn't like this, not to my taste" but accepting others' taste may well be different but just as valid as your own.
Personally, I prefer the latter style of feedback to a show. Inevitably there are sometimes productions where a consensus forms, but I still don't think that discounts the lone voice where, for whatever reason, the most universally derided show has struck a meaningful chord.

Peter Brook has been pure theatrical Yoda for years now.
