Matt Trueman wrote a highly favourable WhatsOnStage review when he saw this at HighTide, and it's going down very well now at the Yard Theatre. It's short but complex, with very strong characters who I couldn't help responding to as if they were real people. The set-up of two young male mountaineers and their girlfriend sounded odd in advance but really hits the spot when you see it. I am the least sporty and physical person imaginable, but the play gave me some understanding of why people are addicted to these activities, and of male bonding. And of the person either left behind or setting out on their own in a different direction. It was my first visit to the Yard, which is a lovely intimate arena theatre with a keen friendly audience. Just a few minutes from Hackney Wick Overground station.

It's very interesting. I wasn't entirely sure how well the two separate elements (the 'realistic' storyline about the relationship between the three, and the 'meta' storyline about female roles in story and mythology) really came together. But something different, and nice to see someone confronting issues of female representation.
Fantastic staging.

I saw this play as well and was surprised how good it was.
