'Coyote Ugly' could work but would need a lot of bolstering, be it with Leeanne Rimes tunes or just lots of turn of the century pop classics.

For me, I would kill to direct The Wicker Man on stage - more a play packed with integral songs. Why has that not been done. Imagine that great effigy rising up out of the Olivier Drum aas the policeman is led round. Summer is a comin' in - sing cuckoo.

I'd love them to do Mulan. Mulan the film is very cinematic so they'd have to make some big changes to make it work for the stage. I'd be curious how Mushu could be realised. I would LOVE to see Mulan on stage. I saw a touristy kung-fu show in Beijing this spring with breath-taking acrobatics and I immediately thought that Disney needs to do Mulan on stage incorporating those elements. As for Mushu, maybe some sort of animation/effect voiced by someone off-stage - I see a chance here to create something "never seen before on stage". Pocahontas would be nice too, but Mulan first please Something I'd personally love to see on stage is "The Last Unicorn" - the whole book is so full of music and poetry and there was plenty of lovely music in the movie version. They actually did a fairly decent musical version in Germany a few years ago, but it was a rather cheap local production, while this would need money thrown at great stage sets and effects. I think there was something planned in the US a few years ago as well that died a quiet death. I used to think that they couldn't create a sensible four-legged heroine on stage, but War Horse taught me otherwise. |
