Watched this last night. Thought act two was a bit strange and too long. I can imagine this would be better as a 90 - 100 minutes one act show. Overall I enjoyed it. Ryan Molloy and Jodie Jacobs were the stand outs for me. Jack Donnelly is worth a special mention too. A strong acting performance. Wasn't too impressed by the male lead who despite playing the "rockstar" seemed to be one of the weakest singers in the cast (unless he had a bit of an off night). I really liked the staging and thought the choreography was great most of the time. Some really great voices in the cast and while I don't find the score particularly memorable I liked the rock vibe of the show.
It was boiling hot inside the auditorium and it did become a bit uncomfortable after a while. So if you are going, dress light.

How long is that thing overall? It's unallocated siting, right? How this works in their case? Still worrying about me appearing at their doors straight from the airport

Came down around 10pm yesterday but we started a little late. Seating was no problem last night. Anywhere in the middle section is best in terms of views. Sadly it wasn't that well sold - that meant no struggle for a good seat though. A tiny queue formed 20 minutes pre show. They opened about ten minutes before curtain.
No need to worry as long as you get there in time for the start (admitting latecomers might be an issue as they are using the main entrance during the show).

Hope the flight will be on time and no more suitcase disasters will follow, so planning to be there around 14:30 on Oct 22. Guess the last day may be selling slightly better!

Hopefully sales will pick up. The show isn't perfect but it deserves to be seen by more people. :-)

You summed up my thouths perfectly, Steffi. I saw the show on Friday, couldn't help thinking it would be perfect as a one-act show. I hardly ever feel that a show is too long, but act two just dragged (in my opinion).
I really wantes to like it, thought it would be right up my alley, but I thought it lacked something. Will be interesting to hear if they change things/shorten it in the run.
Stellar cast, Ryan Molloy and Jodie Jacobs were obvious stand outs (though I would like more soloes from the latter).

This is one of those musicals where the only things that work are the songs - and there are nowhere near enough of them. When the music stops tedium begins, everything sliding into a pit of banality. The book is incomprehensible, a combination of Faust and the Orpheus myth that makes little dramatic sense. The second act, especially, runs completely off the rails. The production is much better than the show, the choreography being surprisingly excellent - all the dancers are terrific. In fact, the cast as a whole is good, doing their best with what they've been given. I liked Cassie Compton for the short time she was on - she barely makes an appearance in the second act. And Jodie Jacobs is completely wasted.
It's basically the creation of one man and therein lies the problem. Next time he should concentrate on the music - where he has genuine talent - and let someone who knows what they're doing write the book.

You know, when I saw the title of this thread, I thought it might me the musical adaptation of the film 27 dresses. Lol!
Guess I won't be the first, nor the last person to think that, right?

The title actually refers to the age at which several rock stars - Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain - coincidentally died. It has only tangential meaning for the show.

Grannyjx6, it's all personal opinion and we're all different. I heard several people in the lobby afterwards raving about the show. See it with an open mind, by all means.

Well we saw it on Saturday and I absolutely loved it! Unfortunately it was very poorly attended, but the cast still gave it their all. Standouts for me were Ryan Molloy as Hades and Lucy Martin as Ms M, but there wasn't a week link in my opinion. Nice to recognise Jack Donnelly as I was a fan of Atlantis.

Oy, vey. It's another version of the Orpheus story done in a temporary-ish, hipsterised concept. Just like Hadestown, which will eventually transfer to Broadway.

looks like Sam Cassidy is involved in this if his Instagram is anything to go by. Strange thing is that last year I was at The Other Palace one day and he walked in. I had no idea who he was but looked as if he was "someone". I asked around and eventually was told it was Sam Cassidy. None the wiser so had to Google him. After about 10 minutes Arlene Phillips arrived and the two of them sat down and were talking. So it all makes sense now.

I loved it! Didn't see it at the Cockpit so don't know how much it's changed since then but I thought it was fantastic, and the cast were insanely good I thought!

Well I thought this was just brilliant. Yes it still needs work (which they acknowledged) but I hope it gets a fuller, bigger life in the future as the music was great and it showed real promise. The cast were phenomenal, particularly Zoe Birkett, Diana Vickers, the 3 Fates and Orpheus himself. Sam Cassidy (the creator) gave an impassioned speech at the end which was a nice bonus, as did Arlene Philips, who inexplicably turned up in what looked like jogging bottoms and very sensible shoes
