Had to postpone my January trip over to London due to to few things opening of much interest. Well aware of the theatre scene but to stay a few weeks just doesn't pay off. I have friends that say the same thing.

A few weeks sounds excessive at any time of year! Ideally, how many different shows would you like to see in one trip?

I think we're lagging badly on big musicals recently but the straight play scene is thriving in my opinion.

I can't comment too much on plays as I don't pay a lot of attention to them. The situation with our musicals is dire though. We have plenty of excellent revivals of American musicals and the modern American musicals are often transferred to great effect in fringe venues. But as for producing anything new of note ourselves, it just isn't happening. The idea of London coming up with something like Hamilton, Fun Home, Dear Evan Hansen, Natasha Pierre etc. is bordering on unrealistic at this point. I have no idea why as I'm sure there must be the talent around.
