The subject matter is fascinating to me. I can totally recomend the film Farinelli.
Anyone know much about the writers ?
I do applaud this theatre for not going down the jukebox or 'based on a film' programming

This actually sounds quite interesting to me. I could do with hearing some of the music before I book though.

Well that's a very retro sounding score.
Flashbacks to the late 80s/early 90s
Hard to know how it hangs together with little chunks.

While I had rather seen the Italian musical Casanova come in, at least this feels refreshingly different from the present deluge of "quirky" shows aimed at teenagers.
I just hope the story won't fall into the tiresome "white male saviour of the exotic damsel in distress" trope and that the theatre won't go Rebecca with this set- and staging-wise.

I too have seen the film Farinelli many years back which (I believe) was based on a true story.
