That is literally what happens on press nights. Some people get invited and put in terrible seats. They have a lot of contractual tickets for press night to accommodate. Most people involved in the shows get 2 tickets. Lead actors /producers/director etc will get many more. This ain’t anything new. Not sure why anyone is bothered by this. In my experience, press nights are a rubbish night to see a show anyway. It’s not a normal audience, and often there is zero atmosphere cos many have seen it already in previews and are just there to swan about. I think the person who originally asked sounded very much like they wanted to be in the room SPECIFICALLY for Press Night only. Presumably to see/be around the VIP guests there. If I was the Barbican, I’d be slightly alarmed. You are incredibly easily alarmed then. I don't understand where you've got the idea that's what the poster was wanting I have to say - reading back through the posts that seems a very odd overreaction. |

You haven't even seen it yet - it isn't even in rehearsal and presumably is still being conceived. Just on this specific point, it's his existing German 2023 production of the play re-cast isn't it ? And if it is then be aware in Berlin it was 3hrs WITH NO INTERVAL. Barbican site currently says 2h30m INCLUDING interval. |

I think it will Be a quick Sell out. This production is now fully sold out in just over 2 weeks, so I would say 'Mr Barnaby' was right, it was in a fact 'a quick sell out.' And before the Cate Blanchett hate mob starts up again to give their definition of what counts as 'a quick sell out', I have one question for you: have you ever starred in a sold-out West End show, won 2 Oscars and 4 Baftas? The answer I'm guessing is no, so all your cynicism is utterly illegitimate and so, really anything you have to say about Cate Blanchett is irrelevant and unnecessary and I think it would be better if this forum did not hear your negative opinions about her. |

I think so. I haven't seen anyone bemoan DP yet, and that was alluded to on the webpage before booking opened.
Plenty of time still for the DP inflated 'I can't believe <insert tourist prices>'

So Barbican states the show is sold out, but further tickets *will* be released next year? That's friggin dishonest isn't it. Either it is sold out or it isn't. I'm new to the theatre scene obviously and I've gotta say I really don't appreciate all these contradictory use of words.

Why would you even come to this conclusion? Do YOU want to be around those 'VIP guests'? Are you just telling on yourself here? What's going on here? No, seriously, what's going on here? We are not allowed to discuss about other posters but it is ok to not so subtly imply they are friggin terrorists!? |
