Yes, the Trevor Nunn/Spacey and Deborah Warner/Shaw were excellent. I'd add to that list Sam West directed by Stephen Pimlott for the RSC (Pit, Barbican) in the late 90s and John Heffernan for Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory, Bristol. I'm keen to seen the Hytner version, as he is always excellent with Shakespeare and I'd like to erase the memory of the Joe Hill-Gibbons one with SRB at the Almeida a few years back. I absolutely hated that Joe Hill- Gibbons version at the Almeida! I quite liked it but it was simply a vehicle to allow Simon R-B to play the part when he was too old. He’d have been perfect casting 25 years before. I recall Alex Jennings being very good, and Jeremy Irons. It is a good leading role in a difficult play. |

I liked Barry Kyle's traditional 1986 production at Stratford, with Jeremy Irons. Michael Kitchen and Nathaniel Parker were also excellent as Bolingbroke and Harry Percy. A couple of years later, I saw Clifford Williams' production at the Phoenix, with Derek Jacobi, who was a bit too old for Richard. Robert Eddison, whom I knew, was an excellent John of Gaunt in the production.
I'm delighted that the Bridge will be presenting Richard II. Their Julius Caesar and Midsummer Night's Dream were terrific, and there is a shortage of good Shakespeare productions these days.

I've been slightly obsessed with Jonathan Bailey for quite a while, so very much looking forward to this. I've seen him in a couple of Shakespeare roles - he made a very decent Cassio in Othello at the NT and I enjoyed his Edgar in King Lear at Chichester. The last RII I saw was the RSC David Tennant one, so it's been a while!

I've just booked and the front row is available to anyone (maybe there's some front row for their young bridge scheme idk). And there's front row still available later in the run. They're having a bit of an issue with their payment system at the moment, so I had to call to complete my booking.

I have tried it on my phone rather than laptop and it has put me straight into a queue with 400 people but already gone down to 200, so perhaps that will work for you too  |

Cheapest stalls ticket actually on sale is £45. If you try and filter for the front row stalls, it just goes blank. I've looked at a couple of dozen dates and none of the front rows or the stalls section at the back of the space are actually on sale right now.

For several dates (not many) those front row stalls £29.50 were still available and I got a couple. |

Good view of the entire stage (I personally like to seat closer still), great rake but this is one of the theatres with amazing sightlines whenever you are seated. It also depends on how they decide to lay it out as Brisge is very flexible. |

In terms of sightlines the view at Allelujah was partly restricted from the front row. Fine for most of the show but there was a bit at the far end of the stage where you couldn’t really see anything. And I think this is possibly the same layout. Would certainly explain why the front row is noticeably cheaper.
