Huge fan of the film and love the show; saw the eventual West End production when it was previewing in Aylesbury and honestly the most entertaining thing about it was the utter anti-chemistry between Robert Lindsay and Rufus Hound, I wasn't even slightly surprised when it was later leaked that they hated each other and Lindsay got Hound fired.
I think it's a very tough show to cast, both performers need impeccable comedic timing and the singing isn't quite as important as the acting. I don't think it's possible to do better than Jon Lithgow and Norbert Leo Butz, it certainly doesn't strike me as a suitable choice for a concert as so much of the show revolves around physical comedy. And yes, I concur with the above that both of these performers but especially Karimloo are miscast.

I thought they did have chemistry on stage in the West End. I saw it twice with them in it.
I mean, they are RIVALS in the plot, not pals. Their hatred for each other on stage was hilarious.
If I was Lindsay, I'd probably feel competitive over the amount of laughs Hound was getting lol.

I was VERY pleasantly surprised by Hound in the West End production, Freddie is actually a much tougher sing and some of the big notes in Love Is My Legs and the title number are pretty gnarly. I had huge reservations going in but I thought he nailed it and, to be honest, I felt he left Lindsay in the dust (which may have caused this aggro that I was unaware of!)

Hadley will be absolutely fine once he's had a bit of direction. Ramin...will not. You think? There was zero charm, humour or smoothness there. I'd have thought he'd at least know that about the role without direction. Robert Lindsay or John Lithgow he isnt This feels like a bit of an excuse for them to perform together. Yes, I honestly think he'll be fine because Hadley has all three of those in buckets. |

Also Ramin and Hadley are best mates in real life, so they do have good chemistry. They've worked together many times.

I saw this on Broadway just as Pryce replaced Lithgow, rest of the original cast.
I adored it.
One of my favourite cast albums to revisit.
This has a such a great cast and there is a discount currently, got a row H stalls with 46% off so worthwhile the drive down the M1 after work on the Sunday.
Carly should be a great fit for the female lead.
Can't wait
