Anyone have any comments on the quality of the air conditioning in the Harold Pinter? Seeing this tonight and I felt like Lawrence of Arabia just getting to the train station - have visions of being sat in the theatre, sweating away and not even being able to crunch some ice to keep cool 😛

So I saw the Kathleen Turner version of this some years ago though turned out i'd forgotten just how eviscerating the whole thing was and had I think it ends this way but couldn't quite remember so it was rather nice to discover that again. Took me maybe ten minutes to bed in, I found Imelda Staunton's Martha a bit big (not literally) to start with until I sort of got my head in order but was flying from then on. I thought all her ballsy vitriol was great but must liked the vulnerable, sort of desperate scenes. Thought Luke Treadaway suitable cocky and thoroughly despicable, forgotten just how rotten a character Nick is. Imogen Poots who was new to me was just great, made so much of every line, every action, most impressed. I know Conleth Hill has been something of a marmite actor for this role but for me he was superb, he stole the show at just about every moment, quick and barbed and yet wounded and broken. It's been a while since i've seen him on stage and whilst knowing he was good i'd clearly forgotten just how good. Was in a state of some exhaustion having worked very late the day before and this was just what i needed to get through my sleep deprived head.

Came out of there half an hour ago, no complaints about the temperature whatsoever (and I was told at the bar I could have as much ice as I wanted in a drink) I was a bit disappointed by the actual play, well acted all round and never boring, but I had been expecting something a bit more special from the reviews I'd read, but the £15 C20 stalls ticket was the bargain of the year so far.

Saw the last performance of this Saturday night. Utterly brilliant. It had come a long way since previews, and it was great in previews! It was a hot night, and the actors were sweating, which seemed to encourage Conleth Hill into an even looser, drunken style of delivery that was completely alive. Imogen Poots had come on leagues since previews, and was every bit Hill's match, her squeaky mousiness now bolstered by a fierce flowing aggression. Poots and Hill were mirrors, two beta characters, who had effectively taken control of their relationships from their stiffer, blocky alpha partners. It was a symmetry I very much enjoyed. At the end, as Imelda Staunton let her macho guard drop, I burst into tears as the actress released every bit of everything inside her, to become one of the most hollow husks of a human being I had ever seen on stage. Heartbreaking and wonderful! 5 stars

I saw the repeat screening of this last night and having seen it live I felt it was captured very well.
I did have to laugh though when Imelda mucked up one of her lines referring to the son as having "blue hair and blue eyes"! She did very well to recover from it though!
