There must be a thread for this surely from last year? I can't find it but, if there is, please merge.
I saw this on Saturday and was blown away. The acting is phenomenal across the board, but a particular shout out must go to Ned Costello as the older brother, Steven. The quiet and enigmatic centre of the play, he completely holds the audience in the palm of his hand. A future star I think.
I was totally gripped by the gradual unfolding of the narrative. And, although the clues are all there throughout Philip Ridley's play, the ending still came as a shock, rounding off a terrific piece of writing. Simply and effectively staged in the round by Max Harrison, there's also some terrific fight choreography that looks and sounds terrifyingly real close up.
A total triumph for the Park I think, leaving lots to talk about after it was over, and one definitely not to be missed if you want a brilliantly done, dark and disturbing drama. I expect this one will stay with me as one of the best of the year.
