I saw this on Tuesday. What a performance from Sarah Snook (and the very hard working stage management and camera crew). A genuine tour de force. I'd love to see Sarah do more on the stage now.
The production itself was very clever, I wouldn't say it dragged at all but I was starting to get a bit restless by the end. Instant standing ovation and fully deserved.
I was Row C of the upper circle and thought it was a good place to watch it all unfold from, I didn't feel like my experience would have been vastly improved on either of the lower levels.

One thing I would have liked in the programme is a list of the music used. I noted Marriage of Figaro overture, something from the Four Seasons (Vivaldi's not Frankie Valli's). Anyone know what else was used?

As captivating as Snook was during my performance, I literally did find myself thinking at one point towards the end that I would love to see Blanchett have a crack at this! Would be tough going to take it away from Sarah but it does feel like something very much up Cate's street doesn't it. |

I saw the matinée last Saturday and have nothing to add to the praise already rightly heaped onto the technical achievement and Sarah's performance in this, best show I've seen so far this year. Just wanted to share that we had a show stop about 30 minutes before the end (one of the screens got stuck on top of a piece of scenery being moved around). A crew member tapped Sarah on the shoulder and she said something like "I'll be back shortly" before the curtain was brought down, started again around 7 minutes later and Sarah said "pretend that didn't happen" before launching back into it. Must have been quite difficult to jump right back in, and she did stumble over lines a couple of times to start with, nothing major and she corrected herself immediately. Superlative performance and well deserving of that Olivier.

Weirdly I got mine a couple of weeks in advance and it was £40 whereas for other dates it was £75. Not sure if it was just a glitch or that performance was selling particularly slowly but might be worth browsing the performances to see if there's any difference in price. |

Most excellent.
Unlike anything I have seen in a Theatre before, my seat, dead centre at the back of the dress circle was perfect, a great view of the primary screen and also able to see some of what was going on behind and appreciate Sarah Snook in action.
The stage team and especially the editor did an excellent job, the editing of the film sequences were seamless.
What made this different for me was that it could only be staged, an NT Live wouldn’t work as you would get a movie, it was the action around the screens (literally) that made it a special live experience.
Above all though, Sarah Snook was mesmerising, she was ever present and the acting, especially the minutiae facial movements amplified by the screens was deserving of the Olivier, she rarely if ever had a moment where she could relax and the physicality was more than expected.
in the end paid £125, with the amount I have spent on poor theatre recently it could almost be considered a bargain.

The role was originally performed by Eryn-Jean Norvill in Australia, but as I understand it Norvill was deemed not famous enough to fill seats on the West End. Jodie Comer did the same thing by the way. The one-woman play she starred in, Prima Facie, was originally performed by Sheridan Harbridge in Australia before it transferred to the West End. Not that that’s something either of them should be ridiculed for. It’s not their faults that the producers of those plays deemed the original actresses not famous enough to recoup the investment of transferring to the West End. It’s a business decision. And while both are more famous and almost assuredly wealthier than the original actresses in those plays, neither are at such a level of fame that it would be wise for them turn down roles like this out of virtue. |

She did a really fine job as the central character in The Confessions at the NT Lyttleton last Oct-Nov. Hope we see more of her.
No surprise Snook and Brian Cox are making hay in the West End on the back of the final season of Succession.

The play would not have happened in London without her casting, it's not like it was scheduled with the original actor then Snook swooped in and took it from her. |

Row G in the stalls had about 20 minutes of neck ache at the start with a focus on high screens but, for me at least, balanced with the so close view of Snook and the amazing tech crew. |
