The Bill Kenwright production is touring again this autumn. Cast tbc.
Has anyone seen this before either on tour or the West End?

I saw its last outing at Birmingham Rep before it went into the West End and enjoyed it for what it was.

The last version was pretty good with Martin Shaw, Miles Richardson, the late Robert Vaughn and Jeff Fahey amongst others. Obviously a good cast helped it along but it was an enjoyable play and is pretty easy to stage effectively only having the jury room as the set so it will be easy to put in a lot of the decent sized city and town theatres.

I imagine Bill Kenwright has already approached his new favourite collaborator Ian McKellen about being in this, haha.

I enjoyed 12 Angry Men at Birmingham. Pretty much word for word to the film. Play had an elderly Robert Vaughn as juror no. 9 and a couple of times he needed a prompt. This was the only time I noticed that it wasn't word for word to the film and it was really cleverly done as juror no. 6 would ask him a question or his opinion on something.

Yes when I saw it someone who was an avid theatre goer had noticed that Robert Vaughn needed a prompt in the first half. I hadn't noticed this and it may well have only been noticed by those with an expert eye such as Glen. People gave Robert a pass for this given he was over 80 then and the comment was it was very skillful how the other actor prompted him to keep the play flowing but only a few people would have even noticed this.

Saw this in Richmond on Monday, eight years after I first saw it, and had an enjoyable evening. I’m not familiar with the film but my friend is and said the stage version is a lot more engaging.
One or two of the accents were a bit off but overall the company did a good job portraying the jurors. It’s difficult to highlight anyone in particular though as it’s obviously an ensemble piece.
Having seen it previously, it does feel a little bit old hat in its presentation but that’s OK. I’d love to see a modernised version though.
Three stars.

I also saw it in Richmond this week and the sound was terrible. I was in the Upper Circle and really struggled to hear a lot of the dialogue (and it wasn’t my hearing)
Jason Merrells needed his sound turned up, Gray O’Brien needed his turned down and Tristan Gemmill sounded very muffled
Shame as I was looking forward to this but felt I missed a lot of the key moments
