I understand proposing bad ideas - but that's where they should stay, as a bad idea.
But, then, "holocaust romance" is a literary genre. 

He's a Nazi Youth, She's A Jew  not alike in dignity...

And more oops - Director says Oh Sh*t - on casting announcement didn't ask for Jews to Audition  (although I wonder how many Jewish actors will audition - if this goes forward)

Agree. Having said that, I wonder why he decided to make Juliet Jewish rather than Romeo ?

Their statement about it says that they’ve removed or altered sections of the text so that it’s not ‘both families are bad’ and more the Nazi family persecuting the Jewish one - but at that rate surely they just built a Romeo and Juliet-style story from the ground up.

Also if they wanted a play with a family in Nazi occupied Europe, and the daughter falls in love with a hitler youth, why not just do a production of the Sound of Music?
