This is off topic, but I'd love to see a video of Sydmonton's "TWiW", I know there must be one in existence since a tiny clip from it was shown here by none other than the Maestro himself (starting at 1:35): Ahhh The Woman in White - I quite loved that score (and the symphonic suite of it is beautiful too) Saw it I think 3 times on Broadway - on this side of the Atlantic, I don't think the story was well known much before and once it was, it kind of wasn't so mysterious, shocking, etc. Kind of predictable to modern audiences. I wonder if he had a name like Anne Hatthaway starring in NY if it might have done better. That clip of her is pretty astounding.

Random thoughts:
Illusionist seems perfect for him - but maybe a little *too* perfect? Could end up feeling like a re-tread, as others have said.
ALW is a much better composer than producer; he needs a sounding board - and someone to say no - in place of an echo chamber.
I’d have preferred a recording of the revised WiW - or the recent Aspects - in place of another Starlight, but hey…
AnnexHathaway is amazing - and won an Oscar for Les Mis. Why isn’t he working with her?!

This evening, Cristina Bianco was a guest singer at Tituss Burgess' concert at the Phoenix Arts Club. When he asked her what she had coming up, she said she was "appearing in an upcoming Andrew Lloyd Webber show" but wasn't allowed to tell us anything about it yet.

The Illusionist is currently on Amazon Prime. I remember loving it when it first came out and much prefer it to The Prestige.
But on rewatching it's a bit slow. Not much happens in first half and struggling to see it musicalised. That said, it has a very Phantom style setting and mood with high emotions, very Lloyd Webber. If it can be reworked with maybe more relationship/character development I could see it being good

Presuming she would play the Jessica Biel character.

Wasn't there talk of evita being revived? Does she necessarily mean 'new' or could it be a revival.

Yeah that's true. But she also seems a bit too old for the Jessica Biel character who was in her 20s. Of course the character could be being aged up, or she's playing a supporting character.

Figured I'd start a new thread since the other one was 7 pages of speculation going back to 2022... BurlyBeaR could move discussion there of The Illusionist film and the rights over here?

Just a throw away mention in a long interview... I bet they didn't want it announced like that!

Has the article been edited? Or is it just my tired eyes, because I can’t see any mention of the Illusionist.
Love how he talks at length about how important vinyl is to him, with record players in “all the houses,” then they ask him what his favourite turntable is and he basically just goes “dunno 🤷♂️ “

Andrew has said he is going to bring over Cats: The Jellicle Ball, so wondering how well Starlight Express has done in a theatre that is not in Central London, whether this might go into that Surrey Quays Theatre, where Macbeth was or maybe a bit more further out in Woolwich Works that has been show-less since the Punchdrunk show closed?

I am saying the opposite that Starlight is doing very well and that Andrew might be considering bring Cats: The Jellicle Ball into a theatre not in Zone 1 and can reconfigure the theatre how he wishes, because how well Starlight has done!

This will probably the first time in a while we'll have a Jamie Lloyd show with sets and costumes!
The comment of not a huge house makes me wonder if it could be somewhere like the Aldwych, Tina is on its last legs and it's a theatre ALW is familiar. The Adelphi is another option but I imagine that even with ALW as co-owner, he might want a banker there like Paddington.
