Sort of...
Bernadette was/is one of the most infamous musical flops of the West End. It lasted for 3 weeks in 1990. It even got a blessing from the Pope. Never to be heard of again.
But Bernadette is coming back, albeit in a new musical by Frank Wildhorn. 'The Song of Bernadette' is only at the workshop stage, but the cast includes Lea Salonga, Sophia Anne Caruso, Alice Ripley, Javier Munos, Eric Anderson.
The original had some terrible ballads and terrible soft rock tunes, something that Frank Wildhorn has also provided a lot of in the past.
I hope it makes it beyond the workshop and into a full production.

Yeah but I wanted to her in Salford. I was going to polish my clogs for the occasion.

I saw her in concert at the RFH years ago. I don't think women were allowed as I'd didn't see any in the audience. It was a wonderful evening bit I got the giggles during one song where her male backing dancers were wearing raincoats and wellies and she sang a song about rain with the line "I don't wear rubbers!". I think it must be what Americans call wellies but my dirty mind thought of something else.

The Bernadette musical in question was truly dire and in the wrong venue. The apparition amounted to little more than a light bulb sadly.

Oh! When I saw the subject heading I assumed it was Bernadette Peters. Then when I started to read my heart skipped a beat. I'd give serious money (well, moderately serious!) to see Bernadette - the People's Musical back on stage. I don't care that it was awful. It was the first west end musical I went by myself to see. It has a special place in my heart. I'm very nostalgic about it!

I too thought of Bernadette Peters and if it was- take my money!
I have one of her concert CDs called Sondheim Etc. Where she sings ‘Sooner or Later’ from Dick Tracy, famously first sung by Madonna.
When she introduces it she humorously jests ‘this song was sung by a blonde bombshell- not me! Though we both have religious names...🤔’

She may have repeated the joke but this is on a cD of a live Broadway concert recording

I’ve updated the thread title so we don’t invoke too much excitement in BP fans.

I didn't even think of Bernadette Peters when i wrote the thread title. Sorry!
But compared to her last concert in London, i'd rather sit through Bernadette the Musical again. She barely did any of her 'hits', wasn't on stage for very long at all and her voice is no longer what it was. Miss Peters was amazing in her prime, however...

Saw the original, the apparition looked like a light bulb, it looked like a cheep version of the gateway in the original Star Trek episode of The City on the Edge of Forever.
