Although Trump's politics are less right-wing than the other Republicans, he nonetheless feels more dangerous to me as his continued presence is basically making it seem okay to say what you think, especially if what you think is that all Mexicans are rapists and all Muslims should be kicked out of the country. I'm sure people would still think the racist thoughts if they didn't have his example legitimising their own thoughts, but it's pretty horrifying that they just don't see anything wrong with what's coming out of their mouths (and, in this case, keyboards).
Dear white people,
Sorry you only have extremely limited scope for being in Hamilton. May we suggest you instead go and be in EVERY OTHER MUSICAL EVER? It's not like you're hurting for parts for god's sake.

Can I just cry somewhere here? Amazon cancelled my order for #Hamiltome - kindle version of a book with lyrics, annotations and everything. I've been counting days till it is out and they just cancelled the kindle version completely. The printed one will cost me a fortune by itself, and the delivery to Russia will require to sell my second kidney Gutted and devastated.

Boo..But the printed version is actually only $24. Isn't that how much physical CDs cost these days (I only go digital). This will be a beautiful book, you should go for the physical version

Aw man, that sucks, I'm sorry. As a regular visitor to the UK, do you have any buddies here who'd help you by acquiring a physical copy for you that you could collect from them on your next theatre visit? Amazon.co.uk are currently listing the physical copy for £22.61 and shipping would probably be free to the UK at that price, so if you didn't mind too much waiting for it, it could be worth exploring that option?

Order it on Amazon UK shortly before your next trip to London and have it delivered to wherever you are staying. You'll have to wait a bit but it's not like you won't get it at all.

I was hoping to pay 3 times less and have this book in a couple of weeks. Plus I don't like physical books and prefer reading e-books, but obviusly it is the question of time and money for me And why would the publisher plan releasing it electronically and cancelling it so last minute?

This may actually work! But still that means I will read it in the end of June, not in 2 weeks time, and this not the "wait for it" situation for me

I'd CC Hamilton too, just for fun.

Dear white people, Sorry you only have extremely limited scope for being in Hamilton. May we suggest you instead go and be in EVERY OTHER MUSICAL EVER? It's not like you're hurting for parts for god's sake. I still have the CD sitting there waiting for me to find time to sit and listen properly, following the lyrics, so my knowledge on the show is somewhat hazy, but I though the casting was on purpose to show the US as a country with a large percentage of newly arrived immigrants (as per In the Heights as well), this being the case at the time of Hamiilton, as well as at the time of the rise of American musical theatre in the early twentieth century (created mainly by recent immigrants). The opposition to this from Trump and the shockingly large number of Americans that support him, being a depressingly predictable nativist reaction, demands that those immigrant characteristics are reflected in any casting, so an all white cast misses the point as much as an all white cast of In the Heights would. As per Trump he's best described a populist nationalist, akin to those nice European mid century ones, Peron, Karadzic etc. with an extra dose of anti-intellectualism. Given those forebears we can have a pretty good guess as to how any future Trump government would turn out.

I reckon Lin Manuel Miranda is going to make an appearance at the Oliviers. He's on holiday from Hamilton at the moment, the Olivier Twitter just posted a video of Groff doing his best message to the people of England, and I just searched Twitter for "Lin Manuel Miranda London" and someone tweeted about seeing them on their flight yesterday. Is it too much to hope for a little Ham performance on Sunday do we think?

Michael, continuing our conversation from the the School of Rock thread, I was never a big fan of hip-hop but I still loved Hamilton. I think it's because they seemed to have a bit of every music genre (My favourite non-hip hip songs are You'll Be Back and Burn). I actually found their to be more hip-hop in In the Heights, it just seemed more noticeable in ITH. You have to make sure you understand every single line to understand Hamilton. I managed to learn a lot about the history, but one thing I did mistake was I thought Alexander Hamilton had cheated on his wife with his sister-in-law, Peggy, and I didn't realise the actress was playing a different role. The reason the actors change roles have a lot of hidden meanings and I feel a lot of the show has hidden meanings, which I didn't read until after the show. Each to their own though and I find it really interesting to talk to someone who didn't like the show.

I was thinking after Groffsauce's message that we might be getting an announcement. Would be amazing to have him accept with the ITH cast (if they win of course)

By LoveTheatre.com though, surely a waitlist doesn't mean something's definitely happening until it comes directly from the producer? I mean, I'm not doubting that Hamilton's on its way, I just don't see the existence of this waitlist as a concrete anything.

And most people won't think to untick the box underneath so LoveTheatre gets a bunch of new email addresses to promote to...

Give the book that inspired the show a go to ease the waiting time? Ron Chernow "Alexander Hamilton". I had a quick look through it the other day and it seems to be a good read if you're interested to find out more about the man himself. :-)
