but like, we've all seen the bootleg right? There is a whole world out there that have not seen it. Though that certainly seems steep for a show filmed on the stage. |

First time seeing the year 3 cast yesterday (from one of the bargain price £20 Grand Circle slips - although the usher looked at me like I was mad when I tried to enter through the Dress Circle - which was the route I was directed to last time).
A lot of shows lose a bit of magic with a cast change and I think Hamilton here was one of them.
The cast board was wrong (it claimed Aaron Lee Lambert was on as King George, but it was Gavin Spokes), so I'll have to go with who I think was on.
Nuno Quiemado was on alternate Alexander Hamilton. Serviceable but lacks presence. Better than Stephenson Adrern-Sodje, who I saw last time.
Angelica was played by Lydia Fraser. She was fine.
Highlights of the new cast were Gavin Spokes as King George, who has an incredibly expressive face, even visible from the slips. Trevor Dion Nicholas as Washington, very powerful voice. And I did take to Carl Spencer, who played a very cute Philip Hamilton. Emile Ruddock, who I saw last time as cover Hercules Mulligan/James Madison looked much more comfortable too now he's playing the role full time.
I have one more cheap ticket booked, after which I'll probably give this a break until the year 4 cast.

Is there a reason why it's so long until the film version is out?! Considering it was filmed a couple of years ago...I've seen it on stage but I'm all for anything that encourages accessibility to theatre.

I assume they've calculated the sort of prices they're charging for the Broadway production are sustainable for another year or so, and it doesn't make commercial sense to put a film of the original cast into cinemas when they're still getting $199 for rear mezzanine seats and up to $449 in the orchestra.

Oh boy! The caption and comments here. Whew. Seems to me she only has a cause for complaint if she wasn't invited back. If she said no then that's her choice (and it may well have been her choice to leave as well). Many people will only care that it is the original, individual Tony winning principals on stage, regardless of the rights and wrongs of that. |

Normally I would say 'well that's life' but LMM is mr nice guy, mr inclusive, we're all one big happy family etc so I think it does show him in a bit more of a real light. Not saying that's good or bad, like most things in life there are grey areas

There’s a bigger/smaller/different story here that isn’t being shared by her. Either Lin is too gracious to highlight it or it might be worth hearing. Either way all I can smell is sour grapes from the ensemble member.

From what I gather, as they filmed it almost a year after opening, she had already left the production. I believe another ensemble member had too, as had Jonathan Groff (but he came back for the filming).
So yes, sour grapes from her that she missed out. But I assume she chose to leave when she did.

On another note, how does the language in Hamilton fit in with Disney's family-friendly image? The cast recording carries the 'Explicit Content' badge, so what certificate would the film version have? Disney is not the first studio I would have put Hamilton with, but they were obviously keen to have it if they paid $75m for it.

Disney has a bunch of brands for releasing various types of content under. Even more so now that the Fox acquisition has completed. Touchstone was a Disney brand, so technically Con-Air is a Disney film, and Nicolas Cage is definitely a Disney Princess.

...and ‘Hollywood Pictures’, Marvel, Vice and Maker. All identities started with a specific purpose, but film making companies owned by Disney (although I think Hollywood is just Hollywood Records now).

And Disneyland. 😂 That's the whole point of the different brands. So that we don't associate those films with the wholesome Disney. I don't get why we still have separation between Disney Animation and Pixar, from a branding perspective, but Disney, Marvel, 20th Century Studios etc are all distinctly branded for their respective target markets. |

Lin just isn't clarifying the inaccuracy. Javier Muñoz, meanwhile, is. |

She’d either left by choice, left not by choice, missed those days shows or was asked not to take part. Either way theres a story we’re not being told. The lady in question hasn’t said why she wasn’t still in the cast at the time of recording; she’s just happy to talk down the show on twitter.

She left the show in March 2016, so before the Tony Awards. I've no idea if it was by choice or not.
But I notice she's not speaking out on behalf of the other ensemble member who had also left before filming.
