Are we seriously having a conversation about how Hamilton is not winning enough awards?

They did have a load of wins at various awards last year that considered the public run. They aren't then eligible for some awards this year because of the public run. So they won critics choice and drama desks last year so aren't eligible. [br Yeah the Drama Desks and Critics Circle consider both off Broadway and Broadway shows so Hamilton not being nominated isn't a shock as it won last year.

Are we seriously having a conversation about how Hamilton is not winning enough awards?Yep. It lost best musical to American in Paris for the Drama League Awards and didn't get a single acting nomination for the Outer Critics Circle Awards. Really curious if Hamilton can beat the record for most Tony nominations.

I'm ALL ABOARD the Hamilton band-wagon, but it will continue to do a-okay without any further awards.
Though I will throw something if Daveed Diggs doesn't get a nom.

The Drama Desks/Outer Critics Circle are always messy and weird. I don't take much notice of them. Drama Desks didn't even nominate Dear Evan Hansen for best musical/best actor and that has ended up getting absolute raves off-broadway. People are already saying Ben Platt will win the Tony next year but he wasn't even nominated at the Drama Desks.
As for todays Tony nominations, Hamilton will definitely get 13 and could get up to 16. (The record is 15 for Billy Elliot and The Producers).
The 3 nominations that may or may not happen are Phillipa Soo, Jonathan Groff and Christopher Jackson.
I have my fingers crossed for Phillipa especially.

Yeah, it's because it swept the board as an Off-Broadway production last year, deeming it ineligible. Same with Fun Home, and look how well that did.

The Producers So thrilled for Ham and all its nominations. Pleasantly surprised for Phillipa Soo and Christopher Jackson, I thought they were going to get edged out!

The Producers and Billy Elliot both had 15.

Although it should be noted that when Billy Elliot was nominated, the sound design award (that Hamilton would have most likely have been nominated for) still existed.

Happy for Christopher Jackson, whose voice I am totally in love with. Surprised but happy for Phillipa Soo and Jonathan Groff, especially the latter, whose part is really quite small. However, as a fan, I am over the moon!

I wonder what the ticket prices for this in London will be? I'm scared to think!! Well if they follow the Broadway model they'll start off reasonable and gradually increase with every booking period. So I'd recommend getting tickets when they first go on sale if you want to see it.

Well, I'm sure they'll be able to assemble an excellent new cast out of that lot at least!

Whether it deserves to win in all of them I'm not sure, but every one of those nominations is justifiable, it really is a musical which excelled in every department.

I don't think it deserves to win them all and I don't think it will, but it definitely deserved to break the nominations record. I think most people consider it to be a better show than Billy Elliot and The Producers, so why not?
