It's only going to get worse immediately post-Tonys. Good luck, everyone! I'm seriously considering getting a season pass for Chicago just to guarantee seats for December, despite that I probably won't be using the season pass for any other shows! I hope it won't be as mad in Chicago. I managed to snag Book of Mormon tickets in Chicago in December when it first opened there in 2011 as well. It was pretty much the same situation. This is VERY stressful! |

Returning to the recent discussion on immediate liking vs properly understanding Hamilton I wanted to mention that for a few months I haven't been listening to it properly, just a random couple of songs here and there. And it didn't worked: I liked King George's songs but it was not until I listened to the whole album properly from the beginning to the end a couple of times in one day (thanks to my Chitty Chitty Leeds trip). And I was smitten. I can't talk about anything else since then! I can barely listen to anything else. I've been watching all the videos you can find on youtube and in some other places numerous times, and each time it just grows stronger and stronger on me.
I've spent a few days on genius.com reading all the comments (by Lin himself and other contributors) explaining and adding to the storyline.. These texts are so rich and thick you definitely need time to "process" them, I would say. And when/if this story do reach you properly, and settle in your mind.. I guess, you will end as affected as me. I really need more Hamilton in my life. And it better be in London! (I don't have US visa anyway)

I started just listening to a few songs and didn't really get what all the fuss was about but then I listened to it through twice in a day and it started to get in my head! It made me go and read about American history so I could understand the lyrics better. Now I'm hooked! I normally wouldn't listen to a soundtrack before seeing a show, I only did here because it was going to be so long before I had a chance to see it and wanted to understand the fuss, but I think this is a show that requires you to have a listen and to do some research to really understand it. I really hope it comes to London! |

Yep, I think it is too rich and meaningful to get all the links and allusions when you first interfere with it knowing nothing about that story. Sharing my favourite part of trivia, btw. The theatre's refurb is going to take a year to complete so I assume Hamilton is aiming for Spring 2017.

I just bought myself a good(ish) seat for December in NYC and I can't believe I spent this much on a ticket. I had to make three phone calls to my friends and ask them if it's okay. If I can see it in Chicago as well for a better price, I might just return this and see it there, but until tickets go on sale, I am not throwing away my shot!

Somewhat surprised that tickets were still available though. and I can't believe I spent this much on a ticket I had the same feeling back when I booked mine. Actually, still have (and not because I didn't like the show, it's just that I never thought I'd ever spend that much money for a single ticket). That said: I have a feeling that I might have to fork out a similar sum for Frozen - if I even can get a ticket. |

TBH, I don't expect Frozen to be as crazy as Hamilton. I think the Hamilton hysteria is partially due to the fact that people who don't normally like musicals/theatre are flocking to see this. It also helps it has countless superstars seeing it, loving it and Tweeting about it, ranging from Beyonce who wants to steal Groff's entrance, to the POTUS who has seen it twice already.
Frozen will undoubtedly do well with annoying little people and their annoying parents, but I think it will remain within the confines of its presumed target audience and demographic.

I've seen these offers, and I was shortly tempted to re-sell my ticket, as my seat (for which I originally paid ~$200) was offered for (I think) $800. I guess Ticketmaster decided that they wanted their part of the tout cake. However, I do think that Ticketmaster should re-sell them for the original price, and not for 4+ times as much. I love Avenue Q's and Book of Mormon's score and the songs from Frozen, so my hopes are really high that Bobby Lopez and his wife will compose a terrific score. I hope I can manage to grab a ticket for Frozen's out-of-town tryout in Denver (it was Denver, right?). I'd even be flying over solely to see Frozen. But getting back to topic: Enjoy Hamilton. Fingers crossed that no-one you want to see leaves at cast change. |

I think you might be more successful getting Broadway Frozen over Denver Frozen. Denver is a limited out of town and it IS subscriber based, so these tend to run out faster. But it's not impossible.

My guess on "why Hamilton is that popular": it is just THAT good. Fresh, unusual, and deep at the same point. A lot to think about. A show that speaks to so many different people because of its message. From children studying it in their history classes to celebrities.
I think lots of celebrities visit other shows as well, but that doesn't make other shows so important and valuable. If it would be just "celebrity hype" without having such a solid base of a unique show, it wouldn't work.

One of my friends described it as a musical for people who don't like normal musicals.
It is exorbitantly expensive. A side mid stalls seat at $359 is way too high. So many tickets being resold to make money, which sometimes means empty seats. I think the West End production would do well to ban ticket resale when it comes over. That said I look forward to seeing it in December.

It proves the point that lots if people who were not previously interested in the musical theatre connected with it through Hamilton. And the fact that loads of musical theatre people adore it speaks for itself. Apparently it has a small but mighty fanbase even here in Russia! |

Is the Victoria Palace in bad shape? I only saw BE once and that was probably around 2008, so I don't really remember what shape the theatre was in.
