Does anybody have a report on the aisle / catwalk / walkway? Hoping whatever happens the Dominion will release some more seats nearer the front as a result of updating the configuration, which is why I ask. Thanks all. Looking forward to first preview in London! In Plymouth the stage is higher than usual and has steps on both sides of it. The aisles in the stalls and these steps are used in the show. They put the front row seats on sale later, but not any side ones because of the steps. They sold them as restricted view but the view is great.

This just in from Playbil: Elton John gave an update on his The Devil Wears Prada musical in a recent interview on BBC2, sharing that it's "not ready" to come to London's West End following the work's recent world premiere engagement in Chicago. "It’ll be ready in about another year. We can’t get our theatre anyways." www.playbill.com/article/elton-john-says-devil-wears-prada-musical-not-ready-for-west-endIt may have just been Elton getting confused in his dottage, but it totally makes sense that they might bring the show to the West End first (ala Sister Act which had two not-so-great tryouts in the US first) where reviewers/audiences tend to be less critical than Broadway and where they can hit the reset button. If they recast, I'll start a petition now to see Hadyn Gwynne as Miranda. Any takers?

She’s been cast…..and I think it’s going to cause a lot of excitement I want it to be Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as the Stepmother as Miranda Priestly. I've given one flag purely because there is no option to give none. This was without doubt the most mind numbingly boring musical I've ever seen. Not one even half memorable song and the only dialogue I can remember was "that's all" it certainly was for me. If it gets to the West End it won't run for long

Had the privilege of travelling to Plymouth to watch this future West End smash! Stellar cast with David Furnish in the crowd! Songs sound like Elton in good way. PLEASE do a cast recording. Can't wait to catch again in town. 5* from me.

So saw today’s matinee.
Didn’t mind the score even though it was no Aida. I had problems with the book, I cannot understand why this story would engage people, an obnoxious boss, who gets her comeuppance by a subordinate - it kind of reminded me of Mean Girls, which is better. I couldn’t warm to the characters and found them unlikable and no real laugh out moments too.
Vanessa Williams was very good, Geordie Buckland was mildly enjoyable. Matt Henry loves shows with a fashion show attached, well he is a super trooper anyway.
No wonder why the stage was high, as there was a piece of set that had a wow moment, unfortunately though not the book.
I wanted to like this more than I actually did.
3 stars.

I was in yesterday too and I would rate it five stars.
Loved it from start to finish! Best thing I’ve seen for a long time. (But totally respect your opinion!)

I find each time I've seen it I leave with a different song in my head 🥰

I wish though - such an icon. (I’ve posted here for a while 😝) The costumes and the wigs were exceptional. Felt like it was the closest thing to being at a fashion show. It was very Jerry Mitchell with the choreo I thought too. Just think it was extremely well executed, there were cuts from the film & didn’t really miss them. Nate comes across very annoying in the film but actually had a bit more heart in the stage version imo. It’s refreshing to go to a musical and being wowed. When there’s a lot of mediocrity around (The Witches and Hex anyone?!…)

There are planned protests… As annoying as it is when the show cancels, in this case, I think it’s probably the right decision.

Having travelled to Plymouth and back to see the matinee Saturday before last it's an easy five stars from me and I predict DWP will do really well at the Dominion. I see it's scheduled to run for a full year in a huge venue so some offers and rush seem inevitable.
I'd make multiple rebookings if ticket prices were on a par with what I paid for Plymouth - £38 third row centre stalls - but not at current Dominion price of £125 for equivalent seat.
It's a visual treat, the cast are uniformly brilliant and Elton's songs include several bangers. Storyline simplified from film but the key elenents remain. (Similar applies to Burlesque)
Plymouth is a fine city especially the waterfront area and I had time for a good look round before the matinee. The return rail journey with railcard only cost me £44, using 3 tickets each way and travelling via Bristol, and it's a particulaly scenic journey between Exeter and Plymouth. There was even a recently reopened Wilco with pic n mix as a finishing touch to a great day out !

I wasn’t impressed at all ,just another poor attempt at putting a movie on stage. Not a single memorable song and not Mr John’s finest work and can see now why he wants the lyrics first as Marvin Hamlisch did as his party piece that it’s easy to put music to any words. No stand outs in the cast and Vanessa Williams is no Meryl Streep. Only set I liked was the Eiffel Tower set but it will look tiny when paying £150 at the dreadful vast Dominion for this typical Jerry Mitchell production they’re having a laugh!

Has everyone missed the scandal going on at Prada with Gabriel Mokake leaving the production. He’s been very vocal on instagram and looks like he is suing the production company

It is indeed very vague so can I ask that we don’t speculate about it here please. From what I can see on IG it’s a serious accusation that’s being made with possible legal ramifications. People can visit his IG if they want to see what he’s saying about it.

Several speculative posts removed despite my request above.
The matter of Gabriel Mokake and his dispute with JWT is now off topic.

Now that the show has finished its run in Plymouth, do you think they’ll update the seating plan at the Dominion to release seats closer to the stage?

I've never known the front row(s) not to be sold for a musical at the Dominion - but not always when tickets first go on sale.
At Plymouth they added one, possibly two rows, several months after booking opened.
So I predict seats closer to the stage will be released some time in the next couple of months.

What does it mean exactly? Will they add the rows or will they didn’t start selling them yet and will start at some point? I’m looking into the tickets for it as I’ll be in London shortly after they start playing and it’s sold out for those dates :/.

I reckon they'll release the tickets at some point as part of some promotion for TodayTix, or something like that.

If all seats have been sold for early performances unfortunately any rows that are added are likely to be priced high. That said Today Tix often do have really good deals, including Rush on the day.
