Great to see that George Takei and Telly Leung are still with the show, but they need Lea Salonga if they want people to pay more that 30£ to go see it

My vote is for Natalie Mendoza to be the female lead. Lea Salonga was great but Natalie would be fantastic

The early dates (previews I presume) are much cheaper with top price of £43.

Yeah that pricing is steep but seems they are embedding their TKTS 50 percent discount. Too bad they still cannot TodayTix.

Charing Cross Theatre really don't seem fussed about turning a profit do they! Random musical choices (no bad thing, but they're not balanced with sure-fire successes to keep them afloat) and then silly pricing. It's all very strange.

Well most of the shows they are not producing (ie they are just a receiving house) so they are just charging rent and taking the money on the bar. They don’t care if they sell so you can discount them heavily later and comp them and they do just as well. Sure George Takei will more some tickets at higher prices but it does seem the US producers applied pricing without knowing the history of the venue.

True but still, it doesn't give the venue a good name to have lacklustre success again and again. They haven't had a hit show there in years.

It's quite admirable for George Takei to bring Allegiance over but I fear it'll die a death.

The director was involved in a racism scandal a few years ago over a play about minorities that didn’t have a single minority in the cast or crew, where minorities were threatened for raising concerns. Not the hands I’d most trust with this particular story.

Another one where they have the audience on two sides of the stage. Shame, I'd have fancied seeing this but I hate that kind of seating. If they're set on this at the Charing Cross now I can't see myself going back.

Hi would you mind explaining that about TKTS? Can you use a discount code on the Charing Cross website? I bought my ticket for Ride at 50% discount but through the OLT (TKTS) website, not directly. When I look on OLT for Here to Eternity though, there is only the same price as direct at the moment. Is there another sneaky way?

It will only be closer to the day of the performances. You won’t see a discount this far out.

Tickets are not that bad though. For previews anyway. Shame about the choice of venue however I said the same thing about Bonnie and Clyde at the Arts but when I visited, it wasn't as bad as I was expected so we shall see...

I’m kind of tempted to see this just so I can say I saw George Takei (the only other member of the original Star Trek cast I’ve seen was Nichelle Nichols at a BFI event a few years back) but £43 for a preview seat seems a little bit steep: is the Charing Cross Theatre really that much of a dump?

Preview tickets are priced from £23 to £43 and since the venue is so small, your not going to get a bad view.

I don't think it's a dump at all.  haven't tried every seat of course, but they're traditional tip up theatre seats, and I've always found them comfortable.  The venue is much improved since they added air conditioning/cooling a few years ago.  I think it deserves to be better known - I'm not quite sure why it doesn't quite cut through perception wise.

Very interesting programming - back to back with 'Frmm Here To Eternity' which concludes with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. It was the year after that (1942) that 5 year old American-born George and family were moved into a USA internment camp. He had relatives in Japan who were killed by the 1945 Hiroshima atomic bomb.

That's enough of me quoting bits from Wikipedia, lol. Hope the programming draws interest. Takei is a draw; he'll do well on chat shows surely, has a Star Trek, and Gay following. A three month run is tough for a venue with no passing trade, so publicity will need to be great.

Hope it gives some good opportunities to British performers able to draw on their specific heritage - which will be extremely rare for a mainstream high profile show.

Odd statement on the theatre website: "reinterpreted for the more intimate setting of our Mainstage". What have they got that isn't 'Main"? The piano bar upstairs?
