Strange request if anyone has the playtext or remembers the play very well... When I saw it at the start of Act 2, just after the bells there was this exchange (may have the character wrong)
CHRISTMAS PRESENT: Scrooge did not sleep CHRISTMAS PAST: Instead, sat in his chair - pause - CHRISTMAS PRESENT: Scrooge did not step CHRISTMAS PAST: Instead he EVERYONE: Sat upon his chair
The action didn't seem to mirror anything going on, and I thought it was a fluffed line, but my friend insists that it wasn't and something else went wrong. Does anyone have the source text, are the lines meant to be repeated for any reason, did we miss a joke or something?

Yep, you missed a joke - I've seen all of the London Scrooges and all of them acted this scene the same way.
They say the line "he sat in his chair" while Scrooge is standing, and he doesn't sit down as it's said. Then they repeat the line together, loudly and slowly, and he grumbles and looks very put-upon and sits down as the narrative tells him to. So it's basically a very short-lived rebellion by Scrooge against the narrator.

The stage direction between the two repetitions reads: "Scrooge tries to resist, every part of his body strains. The narrator turns and looks at him" and then the line is repeated

Will they go for a “star” name? I get the impression that 2021/2 sold ok but with some significant discounting midweek or Nov and Jan. Are Ken Branagh, Sir Ian McKellan (add some songs!) or Jude Law available? And before someone says, I don’t think it is beneath them!

I really liked Stephen Mangan (in fact, all the Scrooges so far!) - I'd love to see Andrew Lincoln play it on stage too. Regarding an earlier post I would rather not have a woman play the role - it would need some rewrites and the relationship dynamics would be skewed.

Each Scrooge has been different to the other. I'd like to see Shaun Evans play Scrooge

Having recently watched a lot of Inside No. 9 lately, I think Reece Shearsmith could be a good Scrooge. No stranger to the Old Vic also after doing A Very Expensive Poison.

Surprised there is still no news on who is playing scrooge It's only the beginning of June TBF, I would imagine they'll announce it alongside what's playing from late July onwards.

Oh yeah I know, but at back of my head it's normally spring time normally. But just looking at last year scrooge was announced September so could be ages yet

I am debating seeing this or Life of Pi this Christmas. I can only pick one unfortunately. Which would you recommend?
