I highly doubt Disney would film their cash cow, especially considering it´s a show that´s really meant to be seen live. I don´t know a thing, but could it be venue renovations or something? I´d love a proshot of this though. It doesn't necessarily mean they release it right away. They've filmed both Aladdin and Frozen in London and neither has any sign of actually being released. It could be they have a particularly good cast and want to film it so it's in the bank for the future? Or yeah, maybe just sprucing up the loos!

If Hamilton can be filmed and released, the so could The Lion King. But shutting down for a week for filming seems unusual. I'd guess it's more likely some sort of update or renovation

After all the renovation work, have they pulled a POTO and reduced the orchestra? I truly hope not!

I'd guess it's more likely some sort of update or renovation Hamilton's filming was for archival and a documentary I believe? It got released because Lin needed a pool to lounge in over Covid. Lion King proshot will come when this closes... so, never!

Lion King proshot will come when this closes... so, never! That's what happened with The Mousetrap. It was written into the contract that they would make a feature film of it when it closed.

Frozen is slated to be released on Disney+ at some point in 2025…

Got my hands on two of the Magical Monday tickets. Great view from the circle. Arrived 10 mins before showtime to chaos in the auditorium. A huge group of teens filled a third of the circle. Sat right between them. Manager came up to me to tell me he’d try to find me somewhere nicer, but couldn’t because of a full house.
I dont know what had happened, but he told the teacher of the group they already had 3 strikes and would have to leave with one more. Girls were crying, some shouted ‘i dont want to be here!’ And a few other comments. They were dutch and didn’t know i could understand them.
To my surprise, the group did behave during the show. Even heard one whisper ‘this is actually very cool’ after the opening, which warmed my heart. During the interval it all started up again, unfortunately. I felt bad for the ushers, but they tried their best.
Show still feels like art on stage. Its just beautiful. Rafiki’s actress played and sang as great as you’d want her to. Simba and Nala on the other hand not so much at my performance. Very excited audience though, which made the whole show feel even more like a magical event.
