Cancelled all week /?substory_index=0 I knew it was coming but it still hurts. I booked in April for Friday, then Joseph the next day (booked June 2020) which it looks like I’ll lose. Luckily seen that already, just hope they announce soon if they are definitely closed. |

I thought with the rule change on the 16th then they wouldn't have to isolate further. This doesn't bode well for future cases of this happening /?substory_index=0 |

Apparently it will only apply to new isolations from the 16th - anyone who has already been asked to isolate has to serve out their ten days.

I assume that one or more of the cast and crew have to complete their isolation period since you need to start a new isolation period if you test positive and if they've not done an understudy run yet, the show can't resume until Wednesday.

This all sounds so grim. When I last saw this about 10 years ago, it was the worst audience I’ve ever sat in. The row in front were eating boxes of steaming stinking pizza throughout and talking on their phones during the show. Part of me does wonder why theatres seem so reluctant to deal with this kind of behaviour. I guess the argument is the disturbing patrons have paid for their tickets, but the counter is everyone else has also paid - and not for the karaoke/smell along version! |

Saw the matinee today unexpectedly - I checked the day tickets site at around 11am and got 2 front row tickets.
It was better than I remembered it. The audience as a whole was OK, but had an annoying family behind me who spent the entire show translating everything that was said from English to Polish.
We had the 4th u/s Simba, who was decent. Sometimes dictation was a huge issue - sometimes I couldn’t understand a word Musafa and adult Simba were saying (they just seemed to shout very quickly to the point the words just merge into sound.) Solid cast overall, though.

Saw this for the third time this evening - pretty much a full house as well!
This show has grown on me. Found the first five minutes so amazing the first time that the rest of it just fell flat. Second time watched it with my son #1 and seeing it through a child’s eyes was amazing. Third time this evening with sons #s 2 & 3 on the front row of the stalls brought it up to another level.
Absolutely loved it this evening - such joy through the music and the cast. A fabulous evening!

Looked for a thread on the tour but couldn't find one.
Just been messaged by my brother who was taking my nephews to their first ever musical, today's matinee of the tour in Bristol. Apparently a third of the way into act 1 there was a massive bang and safety curtain was brought down. After about 15 minutes the show was cancelled. As they left the theatre there were paramedics in attendance.

Seen yesterday's matinee as some of you may be aware from the Bad behaviour thread)
Out of three shows this weekend I wasn't expecting this to be the duffer (to the point of had we paid more than £25 I would have felt ripped off).
As someone who loves Disney and who will openly cry at most of the films at some point during their duration i thought this would be totally for me.
I left the theatre incredibly underwhelmed. Everything was just fine, performances were as they should've been but the whole staging part of it just felt understated. I spent most of the show thinking 'better at Disneyworld' (in fact both finding Nemo the musical and lion king at Animal Kingdom work so much better than this). I had very little emotional investment at all and found myself struggling to engage with it. The choreography is really good but if I can't connect how do they expect kids to be able to enjoy it ?
Couple of things that we did like,
1. The mufassa large head puppetry
2. The actor portraying Scar was the standout for me

I found the same when I saw it years ago on tour, although I thought it was more likely that kids would like it than adults. I just found it too simplistic and (sorry Julie Taymor) that the entire premise of humans depicting animals by means of a mask or headdress just didn’t work for me. I can’t believe it’s lasted over 20 years in the WE.
Having said that, only yesterday I was having a look at tickets for the very long (nearly 4 months) sit down the tour is doing in Manchester. I’d have given it another try maybe, but my god the prices are crazy with not an offer in sight. I just can’t wait to be king? More like I just can’t wait to get STUNG! It’s a no from me. And the audiences will be hiddy anyway.

I just can’t wait to get STUNG! Literally just spat out my coke laughing !! Glad it's not just me, audience wasn't too bad apart from a couple of girls behind me who wouldn't shut up and got glared at a few times. Kids were relatively well behaved although circle of life might as well have took part in a canteen with the level of talking going on, maybe to be expected as everyone has that wow moment and settles down for the performance. |

Might be a bit of a silly question, but are there any differences between the tour and London production? Was thinking of getting cheap tickets for Bristol to take my Nan but I want to make sure she sees 'all' of it if that makes sense. Thanks!

It is slightly less spectacular on tour. Pride rock is not as big, the stampede scene is not as frenetic or overwhelming. Whilst it is ‘the same’, it isn’t quite the same. It’s good enough though.

Thanks for letting me know - I might try to get lottery tickets for London then. I'm sure it would be good but want her to have the 'full' experience. I did actually see it on tour years back but I can remember virtually nothing about it - I do remember being slightly underwhelmed with the black curtain during I Just Can't Wait To Be King but could just be my awful memory... |

I highly doubt Disney would film their cash cow, especially considering it´s a show that´s really meant to be seen live. I don´t know a thing, but could it be venue renovations or something? I´d love a proshot of this though.
