I tried for dayseats today (after Company) so about 10:30. They only had single seats in the very back of the stalls left so I passed (not wanting to sit alone on my birthday).

So, I saw this show just recently after a 21 year hiatus, I saw it on Broadway when it first opened back in 1997. To me, it seems that the corporate side of Disney got their hands on this and really watered down all the great elements Julie Taymor created.
That or I had bad fine arts taste when I was 17.

Show is still doing astonishingly well! Mostly thanks to the tourist trade no doubt. Still doing amazing business on Broadway also. After 21 years it makes more money weekly than Aladdin (7 years) or even Frozen. |

I recently saw the show last month having not seen it for 10 years and noticed that they had cut "Morning Report" but can't say I noticed any obvious staging differences. If anything has really changed, it has been subtle. |

I saw this yesterday in the spirit of nostalgia, having loved the movie as a child and I saw the touring production a few years back. I enjoyed it overall but it's so uneven; parts of it are literally stunning but there are other parts which are poor. I think I had forgotten how much it is aimed at children (maybe this is naive given the source material), it did feel like a panto at times.
On the other hand, there are some glorious set pieces and the singing is really strong for the most part. The whole experience does feel very corporate, what with the very expensive ticket price and large merchandise shop in the foyer, but the kids seemed to be eating it up. The Lyceum theatre itself badly needs the face lift which I understand is on the way.
I'm not in a rush back but it was nice to hear those well crafted songs sung live again.

Hey all just looking for some advice.
I was wondering what Sunday rush will be like for this?
There’s not much on Matinee wise and I’ve seen it before but my Mother hasn’t so I think she’d be amazed by it.
After splurging on 6 shows for one trip I’d be interested in doing day seats should we get there very early or has anyone any tips?

I got there at shortly before 8 on a sunday at the beginning of January and was fine. Would maybe recommend a bit earlier since January is slow?

Some kids opinion on what he thinks he saw, ironically followed by "I think if people are educated...". He gives no evidence to what he thinks he saw, it's a judgement not fact. I think the cast would be very bored on stage if they were moving sticks and props around to a load of vocal track. There maybe additional vocal layers tracked underneath to add to the sound (making a 20 people sound like 40 or more). |

I saw the show on Tuesday night for the first time and it was good, although I could definitely see the flaws in the piece. My main qualm was that it was basically the exact same script as the film but just padded out.
The cast were brilliant, and the visual scale and spectacle of the set was incredible, but i don’t think it’s one I would see again.

I don't think they mentioned that there would be a queue to join before midday. I got a queue position just under 9000 joining at 11.55.

I think queue positions must have been assigned randomly when booking opened just after midday; I joined at 11:49 and ended up with over 18,000 ahead of me. Seems somewhat unfair, but what can you do. |

"Number of users in queue ahead of you: 17534 The queue is paused." I'm guessing that means all the free tickets are gone. I never had a chance. (Opened it again in a private window just to see how many others missed out - 45649.)

There was a big wrap-around in the Evening Standard so I guess that and word of mouth may have done the trick! I wasn't placed any lower than around 4,000 in any browser (dunno whether the queue was random or not, but they should have said the queue would be open before 12pm, by chance I clicked at 11.45 and saw it was open), however, 2,000 free tickets in a theatre that holds 2,100 is very generous indeed so I hope those who were lucky enjoy their treat!!
