Lovely cast overall, no one is a huge draw for me, but Dylan's music certainly is (rather shocked by the very fact he gave his permission). Will try to catch it if I can get a bargain preview price.
BTW, does anyone know exactly wheb these £10 preview seats go on sale for each particular production?

PWC Previews today. Bagged myself a couple for Saturday 15th July.
Anyone else going?
I know nothing about it, but I was intrigued by the fact it features Dylan so thought I would give it a go for £10.

Are the £10 preview seats only ever restricted view, or do thpse at the front of the queue get access to better ones, pse? As queue position is randomly allocated, I can't tell.

Only got back into the country late last night so surprised there were any £10 tickets left this morning, but bagged a £10 stalls seat for the first Friday of its run.

Just looking at the cast list or this on the Old Vic's website, I noticed that Jim Norton is in this - do him and Ciaran Hinds have some kind of magical bromance thing going on? After them both being in The Night Alive and Hamlet, do they sell themselves as a 'buy one, get one free' package?

Jim Norton is the default Conor McPherson guy. Dunno about the other one. And I think Jim Norton has pretty good taste so high hopes for this.

Just seen this, the songs are so well done but the script for me lets it down, there is just too much going on and it feels very unfocused. The music is so soulful and beautifully put together... If the script was great this would be something so special. Absolutely worth seeing for the music and performances ( particularly loved Arinze Kene and Sheila Atim) but I am left feeling very frustrated at what feels like a bit of a missed opportunity with the storytelling.

I bow to your superior Dylan knowledge, Mallardo - I only know what's in the programme (good value £4) ;-) Another interesting programme tidbit - Dylan's management approached McPherson to create a show based on Dylan's music and then sent him 40 albums for him to choose from. (But Dylan was't involved in anyway with the creation of the show.) I also wanted to mention two other v good performances Arinze Kene as Joe Scott - I have seen him in a couple of things now and he's always so good, he has a grace and generosity on stage - and Debbie Kurup who sings beautifully but also gave a warmth to her performance as Mrs Neilsen. Running time - about two and a half hours, one interval. We were at Waterloo station by 10.15. Usual over-zealous FOH staff. |
