One thing, for those who’ve seen it, the cactus scene…we nearly saw a lot more of Gary than I think we were supposed to…! We saw the same a few weeks ago and thought it was accidental. I wonder if it's deliberate. |

Saw this this afternoon. I really enjoyed it. Tbf I was there with a friend who’d done it in am dram a very long time ago, (I was her teenage babysitter and I’m 52!), and the memories came flooding back for both of us! It’s a very cleverly constructed play, and very well performed here. One thing, for those who’ve seen it, the cactus scene…we nearly saw a lot more of Gary than I think we were supposed to…! It didn't happen when I saw it. |

Has the tour been announced for this? I see stevej678 has spotted it's going to Birmingham and I've found out it's at Newcastle Theatre Royal 12th-16th September 2023. |

Always a very funny play and gives a diverse age range of actors the chance to show off their slapstick skills.

Hearing this is returning as a filler, but not sure how likely that is with its tour dates. Any ideas where, Mark? Tour runs from 23rd August to 2nd December so it can't really do the Lyric slot. |

There's a 19 week gap at the Haymarket between Anarchist and Dorian Gray, so there could be a 12 week season of something between September and December and then Noises Off could do 6 or 7 weeks over Christmas after its tour. Could work. |

Oh dear not the best production considering it’s the 40 th anniversary production! Saw it in west end January quite enjoys it although thought felicity Kendal was mis cast … Tracy Ann Oberon saved it for me .
Saw the tour last week and sadly feel it’s a bit of a mess Liza Goddard gives dotty a good go … Matthew Kelly seems to be enjoying himself … the physical comedy has to be so precise in this and sometimes it’s just too manic or a little late doesn’t always land which is a shame …. The funniest bits I’ve seen in past productions arnt even in this one …. Phone cable between the legs ….. constant ducking as they pass the window … when I think back to my parents literally falling of their seats laughing in past west end version to a couple of titters fro mtge audience in this one … was hoping for more

Got offer ticket so took my dad tonight a couple of titters from him he lent over as said not quite the Patricia hodge Peter Egan production is it ?
Looked like the director was in front of us taking copious notes all night it’s been open over a week .. he wrote literally pages .. one show stop too just after Tim’s front cloth speech a piece of set was out of place
Mind you the theatre was half full and got excellent applause at the end very enthusiastic. And it did seem a bit tighter than last week

Saw the first preview on Thursday, September 28 at the Haymarket. What a disappointment! Felicity Kendall is not amusing in the pivotal role of Dottie. And there was no entrance applause for her, which seemed odd to me. Isn’t she a big star of the West End? With the exception of the actor playing the Director, the cast is simply going through the motions. Nothing looks spontaneous, it’s heavy handed.
The set looks cheap. The interval between Acts 2 and 3 where audience remains seated is painfully long. The evening lacked sparkle.
Stalls seemed full.
Note to lady with the obvious bladder issue: don’t buy a seat in second row orchestra if you need to get up every 45 minutes. Very distracting, and rude to the performers.
Despite it all, the Haymarket remains a ravishingly stunning venue that has retained its luster, which is more than I can say about the play.

Entrance applause, yes the only time I've ever seen it in the West End was for Angela Lansbury. Just not a thing in the UK.
Saw this production in Richmond with the original cast and Kendall was by far the weakest link, just not the right role for her, so no interest in another go.

Entrance applause is not a "thing" here and again the only time I've experienced it was for Angela Lansbury.What does it mean anyway? Thanks for all your previous work...Oh look, I recognise you ....or..Thanks for turning up? I think your average West End star would be startled to get a "hand" on their entrance. I remember going to see The Drowsey Chaperone and there was clearly someone planted at the back of the Stalls to kick off a round of applause on Elaine Paige's first entrance. There was an initial pause where they waited to see if it would occur spontaneously, and after a gap just long enough for it to be awkwardly obvious that the show would not proceed until we had all applauded, a lone clapper did his duty... |

One of those landmark shows that I’ve never managed to see. It’s going to Storyhouse in Chester next year. Bit on the fence about booking if this production isn’t much cop.

Got to agree I’ve seen this production 3 times now as had offer tickets Liza Goddard slightly better than felicity Kendal who I love ❤️ but agree is totally miscast in this As a 40 th anniversary production it’s pretty ho hum I thought very laboured and drags When I think back to the amazing funny productions I’ve seen with Patricia hodge , Bridget Forsyth , and Maggie steed I msure Marcia warren too it’s sad to see I could be so much more x |
