This is a fairly pointless exercise as the show only runs for three more performances and closes this Sunday, but I enjoyed it so much last night that I felt compelled to at least acknowledge its existence. TGATPM (as it shall be known) has long been one of my favourite OCRs, the infectious score and hilarious lyrics always managing to elevate whatever mood I'm in. And this production at the little (but easy to reach) Waterloo East Theatre is extremely accomplished with a first rate cast, most of whom I'd seen before in various West End shows. The ladies especially - Rosemary Ashe, Michelle Bishop, Jodie Steele, Sabrina Aloueche and Jemma Alexander - all feature amazing voices and laugh-out-loud comedy skills in a show that requires both. The production itself is exactly what's needed and, oh, yes, the three piece band is terrific.
The whole thing is a hoot. If you loved Toxic Avenger and/or Bat Boy, this is for you. As I say, three more shows. I'm thinking of going back so maybe I'll see you there.
