Zero buzz about this though eh. And yet previews are almost sold out. Having seen it in New York- where it really surprised me with its artistry- I’m expecting this to be huge here too when word gets out. This ain’t Thriller Live.

Do MJ fans want “artistry”? Or do they just want Thriller Live?

Zero buzz about this though eh. Yeah, I just can’t past all the issues with MJ’s personal life. Yes, the music’s good, but I’m not not interested in sitting through a biographical account of his life when all the questions remain about his involvement with minors… I know nothing was proven in his lifetime (he paid a lot of the accusers off), but still. Not for me. Agree.

Do MJ fans want “artistry”? Or do they just want Thriller Live? Well they can’t watch Thriller Live anymore so this will have to do. It’s also been one of the highest grossing musicals on Broadway since opening, so there’s clearly still a big market for his music. I’m not MJ fan- but the show was great in New York. None of us will know if he was actually guilty of anything , but I respect anyone not wanting to support this show. And anyone who wants to go and see it.

Less snide moralising and judging others please! Somebodies art is not them. He isn’t alive to benefit from it.

It's shocking that of all people Lynn Nottage is the one that authored the book. A girl must eat, but

He isn’t alive to benefit from it. That's where I draw the line. I love listening to Michael Jackson's music, but I'd never have gone to Thriller Live or this if he was alive to benefit. Now he's dead, he can't benefit so it's fine to patronise his music. If you don't want to go, out of consideration to his victims, that's fine too. There's no right answer, so everyone can make this decision for themselves.

On the flip side, some of us find it weird that so many breezily invest in his guilt when he was proven innocent in a court of law and the allegations made against him were from people with ulterior motives....but that is probably another thread entirely.....

Regularly sleeping in beds with children that are not your own is weird behaviour, whether it's illegal or not. Anyway, I've booked for this as a fan of theatre rather than MJ, just as I was happy to watch Steve Coogan playing Jimmy Savile on TV.

I never said it wasn't weird, but it doesn't mean he was a peodophile either.....there is a difference....and again, probably for a different thread as it is the show we should discuss here, not the morals of someone none of us will ever know the truth about.

Nobody would say we shouldn’t discuss the real life of Eva Peron in the Evita thread. It’s completely on topic, as it is to discuss Michael Jackson’s “weirdness” here.

No they’re not. And this is where we discuss why we will or why we won’t. I don’t think the forum would work if we only allowed people to comment if they were intending on seeing a show. It would be a bit limiting.

Yep, each to their own as far as I see it. As a lover of his music, I’ll definitely be seeing this. But I’m not going to judge anyone making a moral decision not to because of their feelings on Jackson and the allegations against him. I would likewise not expect to be judged tor going.
Personally really looking forward to this after the rave reviews from Broadway.

I guess my problem has always been with the parents as much as MJ, and the fact that things have always been ‘settled’ out of court. Taking the money rather than letting things play out in open court speaks just as much about their morals as his. These are all properly messed up people being used by a morally bereft legal system and its players, with barely a thought for the lives it is affecting.

Having a look at stuff posted on YT, Myles Frost looks sensational as the lead so hopefully he will be on at my show!

Maybe try saying those that agree with my opinion might show up and support that theory, rather than referring to me or anyone else as "cray"? Let's do better.

I've always believed in innocent until proven guilty. Hence I'm happy and comfortable seeing this show and hopefully being reminded how much of a superstar MJ really was.

No, I’m talking about the cray-zee fans. (And it’s much quicker to say it that way!)

For the dead, as with Jimmy Saville (never even charged with anything in his lifetime), I judge on a balance of probabilities.
