I’m assuming some tickets are being held back for public booking opening?

I’m assuming some tickets are being held back for public booking opening? Its the same relatively sporadic seats being offered across all sites for some reason. Whole swathes (like half the auditorium) not on sale so I'm assuming so. It's also the same prices across every show with no reductions for previews. I also don't see them flying out the door but maybe Seatplan and Todaytix 'pre-sales' might change that.

Gonna risk it and wait until Friday to get the Barbican seats direct. If nothing else it makes me nervous to buy anything on TodayTix who don't really have a helpful returns/exchange policy.

Tempted by E24 and E25 in Stalls (fairly middle). To those who have seen the show (or more generally frequented the Barbican) is Row E generally OK? I have checked Seatplan and there seems to be generally good feedback but good to open it wider. I went for E23 and E24 which were available on day I wanted to go and as well as looking good on Seat Plan, we're the 'green' category on Theatre Monkey too. So hope so

What time are tickets on sale today?

What time are tickets on sale today? 10am. I caved and bought one on Todaytix, much as I hate paying their inflated prices. Missed out last time and the signal in work is too unreliable to be in any sort of a queue.

Got some seats fairly central at the back of the gallery because this is so expensive! Such a jump from up from the £35 price band to the next. I don't mind being far away though as I managed to get day tickets last time so it'll be good to see the show from a different viewpoint. Taking my mum this time too, very excited.

Went this evening after missing the last run, absolutely charming night and I adored the design. Two show stops though, because of a curtain not falling correctly! In a show with so many technical features it was foiled by a curtain. Very enthusiastic audience and a lot of children.

I just realised I had left a one-star review on this show, despite never seeing it! An erroneous click at some point in the past - no idea how long it's been there but now removed.
Sorry, Totoro!

Are they still doing day tickets does anyone know? Yes. They do day seats on Barbican website on 10 am. The first row seats. 25 pounds plus 4 pounds transaction fee. A great bargain as the stage is not that high so actually you won’t miss anything. But sometimes you could see backstage crew or actors waiting in the wings.

Very glad I saw the matinee of this today. If you’ve seen the movie then you’ll know what you are getting. It’s spectacular, in a very gentle way. Be prepared that it’s an hour longer than the film, which is hardly the most action-packed in the first place.
But it really is lovely.

Went to press on Thursday having seen it last year too. It's a 5 star production of a 3 star show, so evens out at just 4 stars for me.
Big chunks of it are massively self indulgent and could be cut (like there's a good 20 minutes that can go and no one would notice)

Any changes from last year? No it's still too long 😂

Any changes from last year? No it's still too long 😂 This is 100% true but I will say, the kids in the audience were enraptured. The first half length tested me, but the kids were generally very well behaved.

I saw this last night and was really enamoured by how beautiful it is. I had no idea what to expect other than there being some kind of puppetry and it went beyond anything I had anticipated. Parts were quite slow moving and it being so focused on two children was not my favourite (because children aren't my favourite!) but it wasn't like anything I've ever seen and overall the time pretty much flew by. I felt like I was in another world and today it seems to have left a mark on me.

I really want to see this, hoping for a good deal as it's very expensive. They do day seats if you get onto the website quick at 10am on the day you want to go. Reminder from earlier in the thread, go on the day before (or any time before the day of the show), save the URL for the buy tickets page for the date you want day seats for. Log on at 9:50am to the address you have saved and hammer refresh constantly. They’re often released as much as 7-8 minutes early, and if you try and access the link on the day you’ll generally just get a “sold out” message. Magically, the front row will go from greyed out to blue (or whatever) and you can quickly reserve up to two seats. Towards the end of the run last year people got wise to this trick, but it’s still the only way to have a fair chance of getting a day seat.

I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this but the accolades and awards tempted me to book a ticket long before it sold out.
I’m so glad I did because it is such a wonderful piece of theatre. I’m not usually one for puppetry but the way this has been put together is so clever and joyful.
If you can grab a ticket, it’s definitely worth the schlep over to the Barbican. Might have to check out the film now…
Four stars.
