Amber Davies (Bring It On) as Annie Oakley, Julian Ovenden (Downton Abbey) as Frank Butler and Trevor Dion Nicholas (Hamilton) as Buffalo Bill.

Of course the natural successor to the line of top-class performers who have played this role - Bernadette Peters, Reba McEntire, Anna-Jane Casey - is… Amber Davies?! What is the world coming to?

You'd think they'd have chosen photographs that didn't highlight the age gap quite so much...
Also, I suppose it doesn't matter hugely, but I love the Howard Keel recordings of this, and isn't Julian Ovenden a tenor?

Amber was getting great feedback for Bring It On until it closed early. I didn’t rate her performance in 9 to 5 though, and yes she does read as very young.

Julian played Frank Butler in the Young Vic version (2008?) THAT WAS A STRANGE production but he is always outstanding. Amber was great in 9 to 5 - I think the age difference works having played Annie myself, will be lovely to revisit.

This would be a must-buy ticket if Amber weren’t involved. Love this show and have wanted to see it for years but I’m not going to put myself through this lol

I think he should be older than her, just not 20 years older. It might not be as obvious in the concert though.
It might just be me, but I wouldn't put Frank Butler in his forties — his songs sound younger than that to me.

I was excited until I saw it was Lambert Jackson productions again… I don’t want another story narrated for me whilst the songs are just played for us. I want the full book.

Moved to Friday 7th April 2023! This is happening way too often with these one night concerts. Presumably its because they'd barely sold any tickets.

I mean that's superb casting but I'm not paying £31 to stand!

Not as bad as I was expecting to be honest, £66 for central row P of the Stalls to see Rachel Tucker and Julian Ovenden at the London Palladium, there's been far far worse pricing at other productions over the last couple of years.

I am not normally bothered with concert versions of shows but Rachel Tucker is in it so I'll be there

Shady have you seen the BBC Concert Orchestra's Advent Calendar on Facebook/Instagram? There's a few clips of her in there.
Julian Ovenden too actually.

Just received this:
Thanks for booking a ticket to see Annie Get Your Gun. We just wanted to let you know about a change to the cast. Julian Ovenden will no longer be appearing in the show, but fear not, the fantastic Oliver Savile (Ted Lasso, Phantom Of The Opera, Les Miserables) will be taking his place.
This doesn't affect your booking, so you won't need to do anything. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and we can't wait to welcome you to The London Palladium.
Best wishes LW Theatres
