In the stage version, on the CAST RECORDING, it's sung by Mrs Cardova, during the song Autumn.  Is her character in the tour production?? |

Is she the one who no one really knows who she is according to Alice?
Yes she’s in the Tour but for no apparent reason. I wondered if the character was a ‘hangover’ from previous productions. Did she have a song or anything? It’s a shame the line about cards has been cut, I bet that would get a massive laugh.

She's the anti-establishment figure who ruffles the feathers of the first class passengers. Why they'd cut the line is mysterious. In a show that's all about the class system it's pretty important and always gets a laugh. |

In the Broadway production, because the set was on many different levels, they had the whole card playing scene playing out. isn't that bit totally cut now, or just her line?

I know this is very premature but I love this show so much. Is there any chance this show could transfer to the West End after the Tour. Perhaps a smaller venue like The Phoenix or The Vaudeville?

It's already been to the Charing Cross Theatre Hm, well according to Wikipedia (the most reliable of sources, of course), the Charing Cross is actually an Off-West End theatre (thought it may be wrong of course if someone wants to clarify), so I'd say d'James' comment of it transferring to the West End, albeit a smaller house, still stands. |

I seem to recall talk of a potential transfer to the Vaudeville when it was playing at Charing X. I'm sure they'll be at least thinking about a transfer. Of course, it all depends on how well the tour does.

The Vaudeville is booked up for the foreseeable future as Classic Spring are doing a Shaw season after the Oscar Wilde season.

Really enjoyed this at the WMC last night. I thought it was really well done and loved the score. The momentum and emotion of act 2 was interrupted about 15mins to the end due to an audience incident. Just after Mr Andrews sings the song about what will happen when the ship sinks, there was quite a commotion near the front of the stalls with a large group of people leaving the auditorium. The house lights came up with the actors looking slightly perplexed on stage, then the curtain came down to a smattering of confused applause from an audience who assumed this was a strange end to the show. A few minutes later, just as people started to leave, an announcement that the show would recommence shortly came on the tannoy. We think somebody had perhaps been sick as a cleaner appear in the are of the vacated seats and the smell of disinfectant drifted across the stalls!
After a break of about 15 mins the show restarted to a little less dramatic effect.
An enjoyable evening but I hope whoever was taken ill is ok!

Just seen this at the WMC on Saturday. Looked like a full house and a fully appreciated audience. I have always loved this musical and as expected the company were excellent, with both the "old" and the "new" casts melding together as one. Now with bigger stages on tour little bits have been changed around the show. Mainly I think in the second act focusing around the sinking. I don't want to add any spoilers, just see what others think. Now looking forward to seeing this again in Plymouth in 7 weeks time.

Saw it in Cardiff last week. I did expect more changes compared to the Charing Cross production, but it still worked out fantastic and this is definitely became my number 1 show now.
I missed a few faces from the Charing Cross production but it's not like there is a really weak link in this cast I'd say.
Hope to be able to fly to Dublin and catch it there. (why is Salford such a pain in the ass journey from London??)

People commute from the north west to London as a matter of course!. You’re not going to fly to Dublin in any less than 4 hours by the time you’ve got to the airport, checked in, hung about etc. Its a bit short notice for a rail ticket deal on Virgin though. |

Your right it is called "Lady's Maid". Certainly do not agree with that review! My group to Cardiff on Saturday loved it. They all thought the music was wonderful even though all of them had never heard it before. But of course we all know some like, others don't that's life.

Oh dear. I couldn’t wait for this to end. Not helped by several “false” endings with subsequent drawn out scenes including the awful In Memorium scene.
The only song I remember now, (just 55 minutes after curtain down) was the love letter/morse code one. Everything else was utterly bland. Hated the set, it was totally confusing. That damned ladder being pushed about constantly was really annoying. The lighting was unremarkable. Performances: I know Clare Machin has a lot of support here but really??? One of the worst performances I’ve heard from a lead in a musical for ages. Maybe she was having an off night but it was uncomfortable at times. No one stood out vocally, it sounded very much like the cast were actors who sing a bit, instead of musical theatre actors. Some of them were hideously off key. You’ll now tell me they all have amazing pedigrees but sorry, there was no evidence of that tonight.
Hugely disappointing. It wasn’t just me either, my two pals hated it too.

I can't believe Burly bear disliked this show - I thought it superb, and I have seen several different productions. This to me was very powerful, and I appreciated it starting differently, with Ismay in court. It is a superbly structured piece, though the inevitable climax happens half way through act two, but some beautifully theatrical touches - so much better than the cartoon Broadway version, for all its' bells and whistles.
