Sadly the £250 ticket price has now been normalised so well done for that, Cabaret. Abd you won’t even get the best seat in the house for that, because those are undoubtedly going to be the £1250 charity seats. I wonder how proportion of the non charity seats is going to charity? I don't think you can blame Cabaret for normalising high prices. The £250 seats are premium that also include food and champagne. When Hamilton first opened some premium seats nearly reached those prices without the extras and a good stalls seat at the ENO is £160. I've just had a quick look at the ROH website and looking at a random opera on a random date the top price stalls were £220. Someone also mentioned earlier on that these prices are average prices for some concerts. When Barbara Streisand was last in London the cheapest tickets were £120 and I think the top ones were about £750. So bearing in mind this is a one off charity concert with a list of stars that we won't see performing again together I honestly don't think it's that bad.

I do think ticket prices in general are getting out of control, but with this being a one-off with some pretty big names (and more promised) I also think it’s a rare case where it’s justified. FWIW I had a look at Cabaret earlier to see if the dynamic pricing had reversed at all and the food and drink seats seem to be £350 now, with the front of the circle at £250.

Yep. No going back now. (Affluent WFH'ers, who's income was unaffected by the pandemic will snap these up) I've feared for a while that my days of being a regular theatre-goer are numbered.

So bearing in mind this is a one off charity concert with a list of stars that we won't see performing again together I honestly don't think it's that bad. I don’t blame Cabaret alone but bear in mind Hamilton was the buzz of the century, opera has always been an elite pastime and Babs is a once in a lifetime occurrence. Cabaret is a fifty year old show with a tarted up theatre and a couple of names, one of which doesn’t show up a lot of the time. I don’t think that’s comparable. This is the drip drip drip effect of normalising astronomical ticket prices so that we end up with the stupid situation they have on Broadway. Producers must rubbing their hands with glee that they’re getting away with it. I do appreciate that this is a very special show with some very special performers and it will be a wonderful evening, but for me there isn’t an artist or a show in existence that I would pay £250 to see.

Is there any need for a dig at people who worked from home during the pandemic? I appreciate some had it harder than others, but I'd also say affluent "WFH-ers" (why use that as if it's some kind of insult?) who's income was unaffected by the pandemic are in an extreme minority, since even many office workers were either furloughed or on enforced pay cuts for a bulk of lockdown. I can't see why that minority would be snapping these up any quicker than anyone else, unless it's because their continued work through lockdown means they perfected their fast typing and clicking skills and will therefore be able to get the tickets into their baskets quicker. My presale link just came through - there's an active countdown on the holding page to the release.

It’s just supply and demand. Even on Broadway you can get cheap tickets for almost anything unless it’s a really hot show. In the rare occasion that there is an event like this one - limited seating, high value - it only makes sense that it would attract a premium price. It’s also for a good cause.

There's about 150 people in front of me in the queue, guess I'll have to come to terms with the fact that I might have to sit this one out, alas.

This is definitely an interesting insight into how many DMT+ members there are! Or how many people have at least been forwarded the email by a DMT+ member...

Anyone struggling who was queueing before 11am - reopen the link from the email in an incognito window and see if it helps. My window that was open before 11am is still queueing, but I reopened in incognito and got straight in. Front row circle (almost end of row) snagged.

The queue is going to be in the thousands when pre-sale opens.

I started with 401 ahead at 11am and now at 11.05 it's still 338 so moving very slowly. Even if I get through I'm only booking if I can get near the front for £250 or something reasonable for £75, both unlikely I think.

Unfortunately most of the front row circle are the £1250 tickets. Mine is the last one without a bar in the way and I'm honestly surprised it wasn't that much too, but it sets me back £250. Oh well, my birthday is coming!
Edit to clarify: Dress circle. But I was hoping these seats would be a band lower than they were. Oh well, only live once and all that jazz.
