I guess Cameron doesn’t worry about this show not selling out in the UK as, if it’s got Bernadette, Lea etc, it’ll probably clean up on Broadway.

Few things can reliably be predicted to clean up on Broadway nowadays. It likely would take some real heavy hitters in addition to Bernadette and Lea in order for this to sand a chance to do so.

An excellent bit of casting

Good additional casting. And subtracted casting, in that I hope Cameron Mackintosh will no longer make a cameo appearance - even on first and last night. Just watched the earlier version of the show on BBC iplayer and his early appearance....
CM could hardly make it more about himself if he stormed on and shouted "I want COLOURS OF MY LIFE", Julia McKenzie retorted "But Stephen didn't write that", and CM threw himself down on the stage wailing "I don't care! I want COLOURS OF MY LIFE anyway" before storming off shouting "Amateurs!" like Melvyn Hayes in "It Aint Half Hot Mum".

A SEC filing "Old Friends Broadway Ltd. Partnership" appeared recently. Someone on BroadwayWorld posted about this and said: "I'm 99% sure the Old Friends SEC filing is for Merrily's Broadway run. Sonia Friedman is listed as the main producer and Cameron Macintosh is the lead producer for Old Friends in London. I doubt he would give that up in the states. Every member of the Old Friends SEC filing is attached to Merrily. The Chocolate Factory Productions points to Menier Chocolate Factory, where the London revival initially played. Considering Old Friends is one of the main songs in Merrily, I think they just got creative with their SEC filing like a lot of shows do."

Have just seen they've started to sell slip seats and boxes closest to the stage. I remember the boxes at the back of the dress circle being on sale previously but don't remember seeing these ones. £20 for upper circle slips, £40 for dress circle boxes and £95 for stalls box basically in line with the stage.

I went for £95 front row seats (discounted with theatre tokens). Hope I’m not going to regret that!

Yet another show releasing cheap seats "last minute". I remember when you´d get discounts or advantages for booking in advance!

And theatres remember a time when patrons largely booked in advance, but since that is no longer as common a choice, they are adjusting their pricing strategies accordingly. Bit of a cat and mouse game going on and likely to continue. I doubt we'll see as much static pricing in many aspects of life.

A lovely video just released at first rehearsal and some hints of who is singing what. Tried to copy the FB link but realised that it takes you to my own FB page. Maybe someone more technically inclined could find and add it please?

Also saw the video mentioned and saw Joanna Riding is doing 2 group numbers. I assume You Could Drive A Person Crazy and Get a Gimmick but was hoping she’d get a solo… keeping fingers crossed.

Any chance Bernadette will sing Send in the Clowns this time? Oh I think it's very likely, it's been one of her signatures songs for decades.

Lovely article. What a fabulous lady she is.I think perhaps my favourite British musical performer ever. I bet she can still belt out a number with the best of them.

Totally agree - the few notes she sang at the start of Broadway Baby at the “one-off” concert of this were the most thrilling moments of the evening.
