The Being Alive concert was where Maria Friedman sang Broadway Baby at the last minute, got noticed by Sondheim himself abd led to her being cast as Dot in Sunday... at the RNT.

Think you are right guys as I went to the after show party at Tiger Tiger with a friend who I fell out with years ago so it would have been the earlier concert. I also must have been at the 2015 concert as I go to pretty much everything Sondheim related. Must try and dig out the programmes.

At this point Daniel Evans is probably the most likely candidate to sing Finishinh the Hat Or Franklin Shepherd Inc. But I think Finishing the hat fits the bill more. I so hope they can get 3 of the females to do the stripper song from Gypsy.

It would be hard to top Bernadette, Julia and Ruthie's Gimmick from Hey Mr Producer. In fact that whole Sondheim set was absolute perfection and is hard to beat.

Not that I'm going but my worry is that they will try to recreate the previous gig when they should 'move on' Evans could sing Hat brilliantly but it would be more fun if sang something different and gave another person a chance at this classic. I suspect Cameron is wanting an album and dvd out of this (albeit for charity) so it will all be on the safe side.

I would have loved to go to Hey Mr Producer. Can't remember why I didn't go, but got the dvd and what a line up it was. Never before or since has there been such a theatrical cast on a stage in one night.

Never before or since has there been such a theatrical cast on a stage in one night. I wasn't originally going but I'd paid a fortune to see a Liza concert that was cancelled so when I got the refund I thought why not spend the money on this as the money had already been spent. I actually got a seat last minute, it was in the gods but I didn't care.

However I did see it years later at the Donmar. Also Roadshow which was done at the Menier.

Thanks, that's really interesting as I was wondering what the link was as I couldn't remember her being in any of his musicals.

Hannah Waddingham did a lovely Witch and Desiree a few years ago, so it's good she's in this line-up but it's interesting that the power of TV and an Emmy has helped her to finally be considered with these other headliners. Before Ted Lasso, she never would've been involved with a gig like this. A shame that so many dedicated theatre people only really get their due when they land a hit TV show. I remember she was an also ran for many years, losing Oliviers to bigger names, and also understandably not getting the A Little Night Music Broadway transfer over Catherine Zeta-Jones etc. Nice to see her getting a spot in this.

Yeah! She was always a reliable workhorse actress - she even survived the ALW Wizard of Oz at the Palladium (!). Nice to see her out and about now.

Would love to see Waddingham sing Could I leave you. I think her comic timing and fury would be executed terrifically

Or she might do Last Midnight, she seems to enjoy performing that one in her concerts.

A very Sondheim year for Maria Friedman! This was rumoured to play Broadway with Radcliffe and Andrew Garfield. I wonder if Garfield is still attached...

The most special thing Bernadette could sing would be a new song from Sondheim’s new musical ‘Square One’ she did a reading of just before he died.

A very Sondheim year for Maria Friedman! Interestingly enough Maria Friedman talked about this last night in her show. She said that she had been trying to bring the show to Broadway for 8 years and 10 days before Sondheim died he did an interview about Company on Broadway and added at the end that Maria was bringing Merrily to Broadway. She said that once he had said that then it just had to happen as no one would dare go against him. She said more great names to be announced.
