An actual live broadcast would be nice, as troublesome as that can be. Then we can all share in it together, and we can sit in our VIP cinema seats with the drinks and snacks smiling at the £1250 ticket suckers 🙂

No more Adrian Lester, it seems. I know they say artists are subject to availability but why do people commit and then back out. Its happened to quite a few charity concerts I've been to over the years. I would have thought this concert has only been planned recently so surely actors know what they have coming up. |

No more Adrian Lester, it seems. It's not the biggest loss. His Bobby and Anthony were really well acted, but the singing was always rough.
Still surprised Jenna Russell isn't included, especially when Petula Clark is.

I signed up for priority booking for the actual concert so should be on their list to book at midday but haven’t had any email at all yet, just found out through here and WhatsOnStage.

I think there will only be 1 or 2 token Americans. After all this is our British tribute to him. The Americans will, or have had their own. Maybe Dame Julie? What does Julie Walters have to do with a Sondheim event? Though I think Julie would be amazing in a Sondheim role. |

"The Gala which takes place at the Sondheim Theatre on 3 May 2022 at 8pm, sold out within a couple of hours when tickets went on sale last Tuesday, leaving thousands of disappointed fans unable to get tickets. As the Sondheim Theatre only holds 1,100 seats, Cameron Mackintosh wanted to extend this experience to a wider audience and will transform the Prince Edward Theatre into a unique theatrical event powered by The Luna Cinema and transmitted live from the Sondheim Theatre. The event will start from 7pm with a live broadcast from the Sondheim leading up to the Gala commencing at 8pm"
Tickets are £95 £75 and other prices are available.
Got mine booked. It won't be quite the same as being in the Sondheim itself, but i'm still glad to see it.
Instead of a live stream, they should do their numbers at the Sondheim, then a quick 5 min walk to the Prince Edward and do it again there!

E-mail just came through. Front section of stalls £95(!), back section £75 with a few £55 seats right at the back. All of the circle is £95/£75, upper is mostly £55 with some £30 ones in the back block.
I know it’s for charity but who’s paying nearly £100 for basically a night at the cinema! I’m going to leave it, as much as I’d love to see this I’m just thinking I could spend that £30 on sitting right in the gods of this huge theatre looking at a screen or on a rush ticket to see an actual live production of something from a great seat. But maybe I’m alone in this and it will sell out in hours!

If it's being filmed I'm sure there will be other opportunities to make as much money as possible so I bed there will be a dvd at some point.
Also it's showing 7pm start whereas the actual concert is 8pm start.

So there are lots of disappointed fans so we will livestream it, but instead of making it accessible to everyone at home we still want to charge stupid prices so we're only going to livestream to the theatre down the road.
Really interesting optics there, and also stupid as I bet if they did a standard livestream and opened it to international audiences they would make far more money...

I knew they wouldn't be charging cheap pricing for the simulcast at the Prince Edward, it's more akin to a gala than NT Live.
