Hi, my first post after lurking for a couple of months following this Newsies thread but I'm sure not my last. I would've posted this last night (Sunday) but my account had to be approved!
Just wanted to say huge respect and thanks to the cast members who stayed on after the Wednesday and Sunday evening performances for Q&A sessions with the "Fansies" (I guess I must count as such having been to both, but promise I don't whoop!). Goodness knows how they managed to be so coherent after two hours of dancing singing and spinning... Learnt quite a lot including more about the audition process for the show and rehearsals, some of the on-stage bloopers, and getting into acting. But most of all they are obviously and rightly proud of what they (and all those involved in the show) have created.
Hopefully I'll have time to post more of my thoughts later in the week, including best seats, but I don't think there is a "bad" seat anywhere in the theatre.

Caught this twice over the weekend, having been very excited to see it! Really enjoyed it, the set and space is truly spectacular. Worth a visit for that alone. So much work and planning has gone into that side of things that it is really a thing of beauty to be admired. (stairs/platforms everywhere, use of the space, direction of the players, timings, just about everything that makes a show TICK!)
I sat in Brooklyn (J37 I think) and it was PERFECT. Would 100% choose exactly there for my next visit. I also sat in Richmond FF35 which wasn't great, but still 90% of the big moments caught. Choreographers/Direction have obviously gone to great lengths to make sure everyone gets a fair shot of the action so credit to them.
Highlights for me were Ross Dorrington who was a SUPER high energy performer, tailor made for his part, and the FANTASTIC Damon Gould who I'd seen previously in ...Cheerleader and Grease. He's a performer I will book tickets to a show just on the strength of his name in the cast.
If you have any interest in set/staging/engineering of a show etc., then this is a must see.
As Regza said above, the Q and A was really interesting. They can sometimes be a real drag but the questions were good and the panel really put some thought into their answers which was much appreciated.

Paid my 3rd visit to Newsies this afternoon. Sat in the front row of Woodside (previously sat in Richmond). It was just as good as before and nice to see from a different angle. The gods were good to me as a newspaper fell from the sky right into my lap. Was unsuccessful the last 2 times so when someone tried to take it from me I was having none of it! Interesting thing,I thought the sound was not brilliant today. Wonder if it depends where you are sitting as I didn't have any problem in Richmond. I also think there has been a scene cut. Maybe I just missed it but I don't remember the scene where it is explained how Jack ended up in the child refuge. Anyway I went straight to the box office and bought a seat for the last performance in April. And just received an e mail to say the 5.30pm performance cancelled due to illness. I was at the 1pm performance so not sure why I got the e mail and also surprised it has been cancelled as all the cast seemed fine and I was one of the last to leave the venue and they seemed to be getting ready for the next performance. Maybe the e mail was some kind of mistake.

I nipped back on Wednesday (the replacement ticket for a previously cancelled show) and had the whole of the front row of Flushing to myself! Some others did join me after the interval. There was plenty of choice to move around for those people who wanted to, much more than it looked like on the sold seat map.
I stayed put as I like the side, as you can't get much closer, although you do see some things from behind. Plus it feels like some of the cast are performing just for you. The much underappreciated Ryan Kopel even gave me a nice Mormon style dance on his way past (and he does a wonderful job working with all the children).
Despite the empty seats around me and a newspaper landing literally on my arm rest, someone still rushed forward to grab it during the interval! Oh well. I guess I have enough clutter already.
Now, having seat this from a few different angles, I could get into a discussion about what side of the stage is graced with the cutest Newsies, but to avoid controversy, I'll just say you're spoilt for choice everywhere!
Sadly, they still haven't found a way to improve the sound, but the dancing is still top notch. Hopefully, they will find a reason to extend again.

On seven visits and counting - have sat in all sections excepting Richmond, and twice each in Manhattan and The Bronx. Unsurprisingly the best seats are the priciest but as I said in my previous post there are no bad seats. Both of my Manhattan seats were in ZE (back row) but view still reasonable for price paid, and even up there you'll get pretty close to the odd Newsie or two, even if on another level...
Favourite seat so far was in Brooklyn row D (front row) - this was for a preview performance so excellent value at the time, just beware trip hazards, torn papes (do be respectful if you want to grab one for a souvenir...) and jumping Newsies!
I'll stick my neck out a bit and suggest (expecially if you've sat in Brooklyn or Manhattan before and are on a budget) to try one of the extreme side seats in Flushing or The Bronx, priced as little as £32.50 (I'd choose Flushing as there feels to be more action on that side). You might miss as little as 5% of the main action but gain A LOT in seeing scenes from different angles and also a lot of individual character detail and interactions that would probably be missed on a first viewing. (Agree with Dr Tom above!) Aisle or front row seats in the side sections or Brooklyn are also best for a pape...
Overall if I had £100 to spend on tickets I'd split it between three seats/angles in the cheaper seating (say Manhattan for first show, then Flushing, then The Bronx - and one of these should be front row) rather than splashing out on just one seat in Brooklyn. It really does deserve at least a few visits!
By the way, does anyone know why both shows on 2 April are showing as sold out?

Maybe they don’t have enough Newsies to perform at the RAH and in Wembley at the same time and decided to cancel those performances?

Was hoping to fit in a matinee at the end of my next trip but looks like these shows won't go ahead.

Ah, thanks both that makes perfect sense, given the December cancellation for the Royal Variety Performance. Hope it picks up a few awards, and you can still catch a performance hadeswasking!

There are a couple of design things it could win - set/lighting but otherwise I don't see anything else in there for it, especially not performances.

Agree that none of the leads would warrant a nomination but they deserve nominations for lighting and set design. Definitely not for sound. Shame there isn't a best ensemble category as they would win that hands down.

The ensemble are still so on point. I almost wouldn't blame them for phoning it in a little on a rainy Tuesday evening with a rather sad amount of empty seats near the stage (decently sold further back, though), but they seemed to put their all into every jump. And delightful to see the understudy for Katherine, who plays the part with such character. A cut show when it came to the number of female Newsies and Bowery Beauties, though! They were down a couple of female ensemble members.

I was really surprised how few empty seats there were at Sundays 1pm show. From what I could see no more than 20 empty in the whole place.

Loved the show today. Did anybody buy a programme? Does it say who the understudies are? Just interested!

Will this be extended or it is definitely closing at the last date on sale currently?

There are always unlimited amounts of day seats to be had, so I don't think it's selling well enough to extend

Keep seeing people mentioning newspapers landing in the audience. Are you allowed to keep them?!

Keep seeing people mentioning newspapers landing in the audience. Are you allowed to keep them?! Yes. It's just a page or sometimes half a page but you can keep them and there is a bit of a scramble at the interval for the pages on the floor. I've made a nice poster with mine

Grabbed a price rise “The World” and a Newsies Banner. I’m sure I read people on here expressing disappointment in the guy playing Jack, but I was very impressed. It’s a great spectacle. Would have be nice to see it “front on” but being at the side did feel a lot more intimate. Would have hated to be right at the very back - must feel like being in a stadium. Can’t believe it must be 30 years ago I was in that building last - seeing Phillip Schofield recording “Talking Telephone Numbers” and “Schofield’s TV Gold”!

Really pleased I caught this Saturday night.
It’s a very enjoyable musical. Act One is definitely stronger than Two but most classic musicals are structured in that way. Act Two is just a bit too wordy with not enough musical highlights. Act One is musically very strong. Unlike some I thought the lead performers were all pretty solid and I really liked Michael Ahomka-Lindsay as Jack: charismatic and a great voice. I saw Ethan Sokontwe as Les and he really stole the show - one of the best child performers I have seen (and amazingly he’s studying cello at the Royal Academy of Music!)
The sound was OK where I sat (middle of Manhattan) maybe a bit too loud from the excellent band. More or less a full house too.
