Just thinking some classics need to come back and the Olivier and this show could be the one
The scale of the show the chance to have faith in the source material and invest in a show that isn’t a tick boxing exercise for fear of upsetting the masses
Some of the best musicals and most lucrative have been classic revivals
Dream Cast ??

Yep it’s not confirmed it’s suggestive because this is a message board not a news feed
Lighten up ! Let’s not go back to the days of the witches of east wick message board
How about you actually comment on the prospect as opposed To the reality
But I guess a show that doesn’t really on an Instagram or tik tok lead isn’t relevant

It doesn't reflect the content of the thread which isn't helpful to anyone and just gets people's hopes up only for them to be immediately dashed (much like mine were).

I’ve never seen the show so I’d definitely give it a go

I'd love a big glossy, classic Brigadoon revival with someone like Scarlett Strallen as Fiona.

I'd love a big glossy, classic Brigadoon revival with someone like Scarlett Strallen as Fiona. I think Rosalie Craig would make an excellent Fiona as well. I hate to say this, but I can't think of a single 30-something song and dance man I'm dying to see as Tommy or Jeff. Does that make me a terrible person?

Why Cameron specifically? Surely there's other producers out there that could do a good job too.

Never gonna happen.
He’s only interested in rehashing/weakening his existing shows. Plus Brigadoon is awfully old fashioned.

Can we not post titles like this if it's not a confirmed thing please? To clarify my initial whinge, this thread was originally titled "Brigadoon, National Theatre" suggesting it was something confirmed. The original poster then changed it and told me to lighten up.

I would love to see a new professional production of this. Only ever seen it done at my old am dram society. Perhaps somewhere like Chichester or the Open Air Theatre might be our best bet. Or maybe a Christmas show for the Chocolate Factory.

Brigadoon is tremendously dated. You might get someone wanting to do a glossy starry revival or a Carousel-style ‘take’ at Regent’s Park but there’s not really a reason to bring it back.
Salad Days’ book would need to be so heavily re-written to appeal that it barely seems worth it although there are some witty moments. You might get a Watermill actor-muso but I think it’s almost impossible to do without sending it up through the rafters.
Neither have any serious commercial appeal so major producers would be mad to touch them (and good luck to a marketing department trying to fill houses) and I, for one, don’t think it would be a particularly good use of the NT’s subsidy.

I'd love a smaller theatre to stage Brigadoon for a limited run. There are so many classic-era musicals that I love the scores of but have never seen on stage. I know the books of these shows can seem dated, or sometimes problematic, although what I find interesting is straight plays from the same era rarely seem to pose the same problems.

A professional actor-musician production of Brigadoon was scheduled at the Barn Theatre Cirencester in July 2020 but cancelled due to Covid.

I'm actually surprised Regent's Park hasn't done it outdoors. It would be ideal for that.
