I like the director John Haidar. Never seen Billy Howle, has he done any stage work at all ?

Never seen Billy Howle, has he done any stage work at all ? I thought he was extremely good as one of the sons in the Jeremy Irons/Lesley Manville Long Day's Journey when it played in Bristol. I also remember being struck by him in a couple of student productions when he was studying at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Not sure he's done much stage stuff recently. Excited about this...and interested to see who will follow Tom Morris as AD. He has been great in the role, but it definitely feels like time for a fresh voice.

This feels like a rather lowkey exit for the Morris tenure of Bristol Old Vic. Perhaps he just ran out of passion projects?
It's not the most exciting programming choice and John Haidar isn't the most exciting director.

This is being livestreamed at the moment, with another tomorrow (Friday) and an encore on Saturday.

I watched the livestream last year and thought the three star reviews were fair - interesting ideas in there, but uneven.

We watched this again on BBC4 last night and enjoyed it more: mum in tears in Ophelia's scenes. It's on BBC iPlayer 'for over a year'.
