(I believe) the cast recording gets officially released next week -26th in physical formats and all streaming platforms. An actual Cd?

I quite enjoyed this today. It’s not as good as it could be, but also not as bad as it could have been. Entertaining enough, with some standout numbers. Though the book is weak and there are numerous attempts at humour that fall very flat as well as questionable lyrics.
I agree with various posters that the narrative isn’t there. I thought the second act was much stronger mainly because they leave the repetitiveness of the TV show and actually build in some “off screen” story. I feel it just needs more of that and less spoofing of the actual show itself wholesale.
Glad I saw it though. I can’t see it having a very long life beyond this production and potentially a tour (which would benefit from opening in sync with the next series).

This was a lovely way to spend a Monday evening with a friend. The sweet moments are suitably heartwarming. 'My dad' and 'grow' in particular. We got last minute dynamically priced seats directly from the DMT website. Stalls row T £15 each which were then upgraded at the theatre to row M. At this view and for cheaper than most cinema tickets now it felt excellent value. It won't be nominated for many awards but it's exactly the kind of escapism we need just now! I will be listening to the whole recording when it's released at the weekend. Hope there's a tour to come and wish it well! {Spoiler - click to view} I loved the band being projected onto the tent at the end for the playout. Thought this was a lovely touch and should be done more often on occasions, like in the Noël Coward, where the band don't sit in the pit!

Just been listening to the cast recording and there are some really lovely songs in it. Usually when I see a new musical I know the music if it's already been released but I went to see Bake Off with no knowledge of any of the songs apart from the "slapping" song. So it's nice to hear them again and the music is very strong and uplifting.

Caught this yesterday afternoon thanks to a TodayTix £25 day seat. Bagged B11 in the stalls and have to admit I had a wonderful afternoon!
It really is a beautiful little show - heartwarming, fun and a beautiful tribute to the TV show. Great to JOJ in a fun role and away from Valjean and Phantom!
Would love to see it again so hoping it tours again in the not too distant future.

Saw this on Sunday afternoon - £20 on TodayTix got me Row G in the Royal Circle - an absolutely superb ticket for the price. There were several empty seats around me, and the TodayTix app showed a lot of seats in the two higher levels still available on Sunday morning.
I really wasn't sure what to expect, having read through the posts here - and it was the cheapness of the ticket that got me through the door.
I really enjoyed it - and I really enjoyed it from the end of the first song on. It knows its subject material so, so well, and is, I think, doing that thing of being both tongue-in-cheek, but respectful with it, that shows the love for the show, and that very British nature of not taking something too seriously. I felt like it was also very, *very* British, and I wonder how all of the cultural references that are British, but not GBBO related, would be received if this ever travelled abroad? The only joke that didn't quite work for me was the bit about riding The Big One up and down - the innuendo only works if you don't know about the rollercoaster of the same name in Blackpool - and I'm from the north west, so I do!
It's a shame that this seems not to be selling too well - the smiles on people's faces as they were leaving were huge, and it's so nice to have something so feel good on stage. Also - nice little bit of Theatrical Theory with the reference to Peter Brook's Empty Space right at the end!
I want this to tour, so that I can tell my mum to go and see it - she'd love it!

Don't forget that the British Bake Off version is shown on Netflix in the USA and apparently it's HUGE! So the judges and contestants are all well known so the musical has that international wider audience appeal.

We saw it Saturday afternoon, and also loved it. Very warm show, very affectionate about its inspiration…I would definitely see it again if it tours. Though I will say that JOJ as Phil (Paul!) was fantastic, not just the singing, but the acting….it would be hard to see someone else get those knowing smouldering looks!
As it happens we sat next to an American visitor, who was with a British friend…and she loved it as much as we all did.

I was so surprised with how much I hated this actually - and I LOVE the TV show and have done for years. I knew it wasn't going to be high art, and I went in with low expectations hoping it would have charm and I'd have a nice evening.
It's totally humourless (bar a couple of puns which I did chuckle at), but it's main problem is the score. I just don't know what Pippa Cleary was thinking because they are (without exception) terrible 🤷🏻♂️ Also living for the fact that John Owen Jones and Haydn Gwynne didn't look at each other for the entire show (make of that what you will...) It was just unbearably cheap looking, and don't get me started on the stupid end result of the competition - I was ready to throw things at the stage.
One of the worst things I've seen in a West End theatre - 2 stars but only just. The kind of show that I would understand people seeing and going 'this is why I hate musicals'.

Unexpectedly found myself in the city yesterday so snatched a ticket before this closes. The above post is very similar to my thoughts. I didn't go in with high expectations, but was hoping for some light-hearted entertainment as a fan of the TV show.
Despite some great individual performances, I found this painful to sit through. The humour falls flat, the narrative is weak, I can't recall a tune from any of the songs this morning. At one point in Act 2 I found myself rolling my eyes and regretting not leaving at the interval.
2 stars from me.

Saw this tonight and I completely disagree with the last two reviews, I loved it! I didn't expect to like it as much as I did, was bracing myself a little in case it qas a cringefest. It was at times incredibly heartwarming, and a moment later completely silly and hilarious. Some fantastic vocals in the cast too, especially from the actors playing Babs, Ben and Gemma.

This show has surpassed My Fair Lady as both my and my better half's favourite musical ever. I've seen it seven times at the Noel Coward and we will be there for the closing performance tomorrow evening. If it were continuing I'd make a weekly visit always in the front row. I so hope it goes on tour with as many as the current cast as possible.
It has everything I want from a musical, catchy songs beautifully performed and with great lyrics, likeable and interesting characters, plenty of funny moments, a superb ensemble cast, an uplifting feelgood credible storyline (with a couple of minor exceptions!) and- while initially disappointing perhaps -the absolutely right ending.

I hadn’t realised it was closing today! I’d just snagged a very nice TKTS deal on a good royal circle seat for the matinee today as I am at a lose end and need to clear out of the house for a bit as partner working from home, and I enjoyed this enough that a return visit took my fancy. Now I know it’s last day I wonder if there’ll be any muck up matinee touches.
Life would be dull if we all liked the same things, but this made me chuckle out loud, tear up in a few places (‘Grow’ and ‘My Dad’) and was a thoroughly enjoyable evening - happy to be seeing it one more time today! I’ve been listening to the cast recording a few times as well, there’s some good tunes in there.

I did ask on Thursday if the matinee would be different at all and the usher said he wasn't aware but I'm not sure he really understood what I meant. We have the cast recording but I am disappointed there's no physical CD.

{Spoiler - click to view} The biggest one was that Dezza sang "Celebrate good times, come on!" after the bakers told Gemma "You're going through to the final!"
Ben blew a party blower in Gemma's face, I think just before he kissed her, after she said she's not good enough.
And Phil said "Tommy Hilfiger" instead of "Calvin Kleins"!

There are so few WE theatres which are free, I really hope this isn't taking one of them.

It's probably a tour rather than a WE return.

I was pretty shocked it didn't tour immediately after the WE run, it seems like a show that would clean up on the road and a very easy-to-move set.
