Interested in getting a £25 TodayTix standing ticket but would be going alone. Has anyone done this before? Usually no issue going theatre alone when seated and watching a show but would it be awkward to be part of the immersive standing element as a single party?

I was alone when I went to see 'Julius Caesar' there and it was perfectly fine. You are part of the crowd and you can move around freely so you should not feel uneasy to go alone. I will go and see 'Guys and dolls' on my own too and I am just excited. |

I will go and see 'Guys and dolls' on my own too and I am just excited. Same experience for me but at A Midsummer Night's Dream. It might even lend itself to a solo visit as you can move around as you like, get closer to whatever piece that you like and just wander freely. |

While you can probably stick together as a couple if you try, I always ditch the friend I go with as soon as the action starts. With the various platforms rising and going back down and the ushers making space for actors in the crowd, you get split up anyway, and I like being close to the platforms, which means making use of the flow of people and space without constantly having to figure out where my friend might be. They get a smile and a nod if we encounter each other in the crowd during the show, and then we meet up again during the interval.
As someone who goes to 90% of the shows I see on my own, I think these are probably the least awkward to see alone, because you're even spared awkward conversation from a neighbour or the constant crinkling of bags from people next to you whom you can't escape for the next two hours.

Just gave this a look for the first time since I will now be in London again during the run. Feels like a "wait and see" until there are some reports back about sight lines and quality of the production.
But $150 for Guys and Dolls? Sky Masterson would have to come home with me post-performance before I'd pay that for any production of this chestnut, entertaining as it can be.

Oh I thought he was delightful!!
Marisha is entirely what I expected and I'm not sure how that's going to work for Adelaide, but I'm looking forward to seeing it next week

The show ran right around 3 hours tonight. 3 glorious hours. 3 of the best hours I’ve spent in a theatre in a while. I sat in the gallery and I’m so glad I did. The “immersive” part is, in my opinion, something I’d never want to do. Everyone is crammed together shoulder to shoulder and shuffled around to accommodate the set moving and I’d rather sit and watch a 3 hour show than stand in a pit with a few hundred other people. But that aside - seriously, this revival is just so so good.

I was also there tonight, in the immersive space and apart from the two women drinking red wine who went into one because I had to move backwards when it started (I told them I didn’t have a choice and left it at that, and didn’t see them again after) and I had an excellent view of proceedings throughout, only a couple of feet away from the actors throughout. I have only seen the film once many years ago and only knew two of the songs but I thoroughly enjoyed it (much more than some of the big name musicals that have been going for years in the West End and charge a fortune for tickets)

Glad to hear the early positive praise. I think Guys and Dolls is a hard show to screw up, but incredible productions of it also seem to be a bit rare.

How does this work? Presumably it’s like the 2 Shakespeare plays they did with the platforms rising out of the floor? Though those weren’t that big so not sure how that lends itself to people dancing on them. Was mention on the one show of the audience being part of the club scenes.

The right hand side as you go into the main space seemed to get more of the action directed at it |

Exhausting! And so many people in the pit who think they are entitled to push to the front, or just have no spatial awareness at all. The many staff in the pit have a horribly difficult job.
The show is excellent and sounds fantastic. Don’t stray far in the interval. There are added bonuses.
I managed to rush today and got a standing space. A very good view for some parts, jostling for others, plenty of being moved. Still, can’t complain for £25, but it is a very long show. You have to check in coats etc too (no charge) and that is a slow process, so allow 20 minutes at the end.
I think I will go for a seat next time!

While the ENTIRE cast is fabulous, initial thoughts are I need to single out Marisha (of course) who made her Adelaide so relatable and fun, and Andrew Richardson who gave one of the sexiest Sky Masterson’s I’ve ever seen and was also brilliant in the role. Hope to see him in more musicals!

It's a glorious show - even after first preview. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Marisha is just fantastic - as is Cedric Neale. What a show! I'm going to stick my neck out and say this beats the Clive Rowe/NT version way back in the day. |

Hope to see him in more musicals! I agree though Andrew Richardson's diction needs some work - the sibilance was a distraction to an otherwise fine performance. Marisha is on another level. Such a strong cast - that's most of the 2024 awards taken care of. |

Funny - someone mentioned his diction to me during the interval so I listened carefully during act two and he just sounded like a regular New Yorker to me.

Great to see early positive reports! Is it the sort of show where you can stand right at the edge of the pit, leaning against the wall and avoid the worst of the scrum (as in Julius Caesar)? Don’t need the best view, just want to see and not be pushed
